How to share a printer when the host is Windows 7 and the client is Windows XP

1. Host Windows 7 system settings
 
1. First install the WIN7 printer driver. Disable the system firewall.
Disable system firewall: Go to Control Panel & rarr; WINDOWS Firewall & rarr; enable or disable WINDOWS Firewall & rarr; and disable firewall ].
 
 
2. Click Start & rarr; Devices and Printers in the lower-left corner of the computer to find the printer icon.
 
3. right-click the printer icon and choose printer properties & rarr; share this printer and print jobs on the client computer, then click OK ].

II. Client Windows XP system settings
 
1. Click Start & rarr; run in the lower left corner of the computer, enter the host IP address, and click OK ].
 
 
Note: Each computer has a different IP address. Enter the IP address of your host.
 
The host computer IP address can be queried as follows:
 
Click Start> run in the lower-left corner of the host computer, enter CMD, and enter the "ipconfig" command at the blinking position of the cursor, press enter to view the ip address of the host.
 
 
2. after entering the host sharing interface, you will see your printer icon. Right-click the printer icon and choose Connect. The prompt in Figure 2 is displayed. Select yes to connect to the sharing.

3. After the above operations are completed, you can see the shared printer icon in the printer and fax in the computer control panel. Then you can print it through the client.
 
If shared printing cannot be implemented after the preceding operations are completed, proceed with the following operations:
1. Check whether the printer status is normal, such as: Paper Jam, Toner used up, etc.
2. Whether the host can be printed normally.
The host is normal and cannot be shared. Check the system settings of the computer and reinstall the driver before connecting to the host for sharing.
The host is abnormal. Check the host computer sharing settings and Lan, reinstall the driver, and then set the sharing.
Note:
A. When the client is shared with Windows 7, A printer driver must be installed, but Windows XP does not.
B. To share the Windows 7 server, you need to set the following settings:
(1) first install the printer driver of the WIN7 system and disable the system firewall.
(2 ). after the driver is installed, click Start in the lower left corner of the computer-control panel-network and Internet-view network status and tasks-change advanced sharing settings-enter and select enable network discovery and enable file and printer sharing-save changes ].
3. Add port settings for sharing
Go to the computer control panel-find the printer icon-right-click to enter properties-select port-Local port-new port-enter \ host IP \ share name.
If the above operations still cannot be solved, set the share by adding a printer, go to Devices and Printers or networks> add printer> add network, wireless or Bluetooth printer> automatically search for shared drivers, you can directly select a printer that is not in the list. Click next and select "select a printer by name" input "\ Host computer IP \ share name". Then click next, the driver is automatically installed and the settings are complete. If the port cannot be added directly, try this method, which is relatively stable.
