How to share ADSL Internet access between the operating system of the host machine and the virtual machine through a bridge network

Host

Operating System: Windows XP SP2, single Nic, ADSL Dynamic IP, bandwidth 1 m.

Virtual Machine

VMware Workstation 5.5.2. The virtual operating systems are Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 Server, and Windows 98. Each system has only one virtual single network card and uses a bridge network.

You can use the following methods to share the Internet access between a VM and a virtual operating system:

Method 1

1) Establish a dial-up connection in host XP.

2) Right-click the "Broadband" dial-up connection icon in the "properties" Window of the "Network Neighbor" of the host, and select "properties ", click "advanced" in the Properties window of the opened broadband connection, select the three check boxes in "Internet Connection Sharing", and select "Home Network Connection (h) select "Local Connection" and click "OK ".

3) in the "Network Connection" Window of the host machine, right-click "Local Connection" and select "properties" to open the "local connection" dialog box, double-click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" under "Use the following items for this connection", under "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the Properties dialog box, set "Default Gateway" to "192.168.0.1", "Use the following DNS server address (E)" to the address provided by the local telecom, and "OK ".

4) Windows XP and Windows 2000 server in the VM. In the network connection window, right-click "Local Connection" and select "properties" to open the "local connection" dialog box, double-click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" under "Use the following items for this connection". In the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) properties" dialog box,

5) Windows 98 in the VM. Right-click "Network neighbors" and select "properties". In the "network" Properties dialog box, double-click "TCP/IP-> amd pcnet family Ethernet Adapter" on the "configuration" tab ", in the "TCP/IP properties" dialog box, select the "ip address" tab and specify any IP address between "192.168.0.2-192.168.0.254", but do not overlap with any computer, the subnet mask is "255.255.255.0". On the "Gateway" tab, enter "192.168.0.1" as the gateway, click the "DNS configuration" tab, and click "Enable DNS (E )", "(h)" indicates the computer name of the host machine. In "DNS server search order", add the IP address provided by the local telecom, "OK", and restart the computer.

6) Enable the established pppoe dial-up connection on the host to enable Internet access through ADSL sharing in the host's XP system and various operating systems in the virtual machine.

Method 2

1) Establish a dial-up connection in the XP system of the VM.

2) Right-click the "Broadband" dial-up connection icon in the "properties" Window of "Network Neighbor" of the virtual machine, and select "attribute ", in the Properties window of the opened broadband connection, click "advanced" to select the three check boxes in "Internet Connection Sharing" and click "OK ".

7) Open the established pppoe dial-up connection in the virtual machine's XP system, and you can share the Internet with each operating system in the host machine through ADSL.

select "Use the following IP address (s)" and specify any one of the IP addresses as "192.168.0.2-192.168.0.254, however, there must be no duplicates in each computer.
