Cause analysis:

0xc0000225 indicates that Windows 7 cannot access the required system files during startup. This fault may be caused by many reasons, for example, Windows system files are damaged by malicious programs, writing new system files fails when Windows is installed and updated, and Windows cannot access the system files on the hard disk due to hard disk errors. Any problem that may cause Windows 7 to fail to access the system files required for startup may cause a startup failure with the error code 0xc0000225.

Solution:

When you try to start a computer with Windows 7 installed on the local hard disk or use Native Boot VHD to start Windows 7 installed in the VHD image file, you may encounter a startup failure error code c0000225. Windows 7 cannot be started, as shown in the figure.

Windows 7 cannot be started properly due to 0xc0000225 failure, so we cannot use the system tool provided by Windows 7 to fix the startup. To address this issue, Windows 7 provides a "computer repair" tool that can be run before Startup. You can use it to fix 0xc0000225 startup faults.

1. Remove any DVDs and CD discs that can boot your computer from the optical drive and unplug any USB removable storage device that can boot your computer from the USB interface.

2. Restart the computer, and press the F8 key on the keyboard before the computer completes self-check and preparation for Windows startup. Then you will see the F8 Advanced Startup menu as shown in the figure.

(Note: If you miss the time to press F8, the 0xc0000225 error will be returned again .)

1. Select "repair computer" in the F8 advanced boot menu, and press enter to confirm. (Note: If you cannot find "repair computer" in the F8 advanced boot menu, or the "repair computer" option cannot be used properly due to severe damage to Windows 7, you can choose to start your computer on the Windows 7 installation disc and run the "repair computer" tool .)

2. The "computer repair" tool provides you with several options to fix Windows 7 startup problems.

3. You can use the "start repair" tool to handle 0xc0000225 startup failure caused by Windows system file damage, registry damage, and other common causes.

If you try to start Windows 7 installed in the VHD image file in Native Boot VHD mode and encounter a 0xc0000225 fault, in addition to trying to fix Windows startup using the conventional method described above, you also need to check whether the VHD image file you are using is faulty.

1. Check the Windows 7 system version in the VHD image file. Native Boot VHD only supports Windows 7 flagship edition, Enterprise Edition, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and other operating systems. Native Boot VHD is not supported.

2. if you are using a VHD file of the dynamic expansion type (Dynamically Expanding), do not set the maximum capacity of the dynamic expansion VHD file to the available space of the physical hard disk where the VHD file is located, otherwise, 0xc0000225 may fail to start. We recommend that you select a Fixed-Size VHD file.

3. Check whether the VHD file you are using exists in the following situations:

The VHD file is damaged.

The physical hard disk where the VHD file is located has a disk error.

NTFS compression or encryption is applied to the physical hard disk where the VHD file is located

RAID is applied to the physical hard disk where the VHD file is located.

These cases may cause Native Boot VHD startup failure and 0xc0000225 fault.
