How to transfer the fonts designed by Illustrator to FontLab

I will give you a detailed explanation of the design font to the FontLab tutorial.
Tutorial sharing:
Illustrator provides powerful drawing tools and rich brushes, allowing you to easily and efficiently draw font shapes. However, after you create a font in Illustrator, you have to face the problem of transferring vector data to Fontlab. The simplest way is to copy and paste your glyphs directly, but you will immediately find that the scaling ratio of the two may be quite different. Here we provide a method that allows you to pass data in exact sizes from Illustrator to FontLab. (This is an illustrated version of the methods provided by the Fontlab manual)
Online Editor of Tianji design note: Fontlab is a software company dedicated to developing and selling font editing software. The company developed a series of software related to font libraries. This includes scanning, modifying, personal names, and series designed for the Asian dubyte market.
From a purely functional perspective, the FontLab software is the most convenient (and most expensive) software for font editing. However, this kind of good is for the Western Pinyin text, and there is nothing special about Chinese. It should be admitted that if you edit the Spanish character, it is indeed quite convenient to use it. It is very important that we have little to do with the character spacing. The font of Xi Wen is based on this. If the letter spacing is inappropriate, the font design will basically fail. The reason is simple: because the Chinese character Library of Western pinyin is created, it is not a letter but a word to complete the work. Words are also used for reading, rather than letters. Therefore, even if your letter is well-designed, if the word cannot be used, it is useless. For Chinese, the symbol Glyph design of the Chinese text font is more appropriate than the font design. They designed 26 letters, which is only half of the work completed. More importantly, they used character spacing to control the formation of words. This is almost the same as the entire text composed of components in the Chinese font design.
Stage settings
Let's assume that you have drawn your glyphs in Illustrator.
The next step is to measure your drawing, including all important verticality dimensions: Baseline, descent, x-height, uppercase, and ascending. See the illustration below.

Make sure to open the ruler (ctrl-R) in Illustrator and drag several guides from the top ruler to indicate all the key heights of the glyphs.

In the figure above, I use millimeters as the unit, but you can actually use any unit you are used.
A little math
Pay attention to the position of each auxiliary line, write down their values, and we will summarize them for a small computation. There is a basic concept: Fontlab uses the UPM (UnitsPereM/element unit) term to measure the font, and then we must find a way to convert any unit you use in Illustrator into UPM. First, we need to measure the element square in Illustrator (the distance from the descent part to the ascending part in your font ). In this example, the element Square is 60mm, because the rising part is 208, the falling part is 148, and the distance between the two is 60. Next, we continue to measure the unit values of the remaining vertical measurements in Illustrator.

Now, in Fontlab, the standard UPM size is 1000, and we will calculate:

New document
These values will become the guides in our new Illustrator document, and we will copy the glyphs from Illustrator to Fontlab in this new document. Let's create a new Illustrator document in the unit of points. The height is 1000 plus the height of your descent part. In this example, it is 1000 + 317 = 1317.

Next, we need to precisely place the guides. Make sure that your guides are not locked. Drag a vertical guides near the approximate height of your descent. Select the guides and click the deformation button to set the exact value for the guides.

After the guides are set, we should place a horizontal guides. Click the intersection of the two rulers in the upper left corner and drag them to the intersection of and 317 (values in this example.

Now, you can place other guides based on the previously calculated values: ascending part, uppercase height, and x-height.

Now, go back to the Illustrator document where you first drew the new font, select your A and copy it. Switch to the new document that you draw the guides and paste A in.

The size is obviously incorrect, but it is easy to correct, thanks to the guides we just drew. Select a font, hold down the shift key to ensure proportional scaling, and then scale the font to the height of the guides.

It's almost done!
Now we need to create a new Fontlab file. Create a file, select the font information from the File menu, expand the measurement and size nodes, click the key size option, and set the values of the ascending, descending, uppercase, and x-heights, in this example, it is 683,-317,617, and 300.

Now, return to Illustrator, select the that has just been adjusted, copy it, and return to Fontlab. Open the-shaped window and paste it.

All right, the above information is the detailed design font that the small editor brings to the users of this software of Illustrator to the FontLab tutorial for parsing and sharing all the content, all users see the users here. I believe that everyone is very clear about it now. Now, let's try it by sharing it with you.
