Originally, this issue was caused by the ms07-061 (KB943460) update installed by these users. According to Microsoft's official sources, Windows XP has canceled the option to display the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop since ms07-061, due to sensitive topics related to browser monopolies, which will be included in Windows XP SP3 in the future. Currently, the Windows XP SP3 Release Candidate version is installed or the ms07-061 update SP2 user has been installed and will find that this option has been canceled. According to Microsoft's official explanation, if we still want to display the IE icon on the desktop, we can open the program Files\Internet Explorer folder in Explorer for IEXPLORE. EXE to manually create a shortcut, and then cut the shortcut to use on the desktop.

Although Microsoft has provided us with a solution, we know that the Internet Explorer icon that was displayed on the desktop before Windows XP is not an ordinary shortcut, and this icon implements some special features, such as a right click icon, In the right-click menu, choose Properties to open the Internet option, or select "Start without starting an add-in" in the right-click menu (this feature is limited to IE 7). Now that Windows XP SP3 "forced" us to replace the original Internet Explorer icon with an ordinary IE shortcut, many friends will feel that it is inconvenient to use.

Here are some ways to get back to the original Internet Explorer icon on your desktop:

1, after opening My computer or Recycle Bin, click the Up button and run to the desktop where there's already a disappearing Internet. Explorer Icon! Just drag it to the desktop.

2, third, after you click on the custom desktop, click the I key on the keyboard, then OK, then click Apply.

3, open other disks, such as D or E, note that this method cannot be implemented directly on the desktop. Set up a folder in D disk, named Internet Explorer. {871c5380-42a0-1069-a2ea-08002b30309d}
