DB2 UDB version 8 is installed using the Windows Installer technology, so there has been a significant change in the installation and uninstallation of previous versions.
Although there are four ways to uninstall the DB2 UDB version 8 software on the Windows operating system, they are not exactly the same. You should first consider the preferred uninstall method when uninstalling. The remaining methods must fail in the preferred uninstall method and then try using the DB2 UDB service personnel.
Preferred Uninstall method
Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs
The best way to uninstall DB2 UDB version 8 is through the Add/Remove Program in Windows Control Panel. Depending on the Windows operating system, the DB2 product may have a "delete" and/or "change" button in the Add/Remove Programs window. You can use any of the buttons to uninstall DB2.
In the first window of the DB2 uninstall, the Next button may be dimmed. This is because Windows performs some programs in the background to ensure that DB2 can be uninstalled. Once Windows Installer can continue processing, the Next button becomes available and you can click Next to continue.
If the DB2 uninstall fails, you can contact the DB2 service person to obtain a way to get the uninstall log and trace file to further determine the cause of the problem.
The following uninstall method should only be used if the preferred uninstall method fails.
