There are countless articles on how to run multiple operating systems on the same computer. For example, some articles describe how to install Windows and Linux at the same time, and some articles describe how to install Windows and OS X at the same time, there are also some other articles. However, what should you do if you want to uninstall an operating system? Next, we will introduce how to uninstall Windows or Linux after you install the "Windows + Linux" system.

This process is actually very simple, but many people will always ask us for help when they encounter such problems for the first time after installing the dual system. Therefore, we decided to write the method here so that everyone can easily see it. To uninstall an operating system, you only need to find its location and delete the corresponding partition. Of course, different operating systems may not be the same, so we provide three solutions.

Note: Before starting the operation, you must back up the operating system you want to retain. Because, once you make a mistake, it is very likely that the system will be deleted, and the consequences will be quite serious.

Retain Windows to delete Linux

If you want to delete Linux from the machine and retain Windows only, perform the following steps:

Find Disk Management from the Start menu (or the Start Screen) and start it.

Find the Linux partition. Linux partitions cannot be identified in Windows. Therefore, you need to judge the partition Size Based on the drive and the partition size. After confirming, proceed with the following steps.

Right-click the selected partition and select "delete volume". This will delete the partition into free space. If you select "delete volume", the partition will become unallocated space.

Right-click the Windows partition and select "extend volume" to extend it to fill in the free space left by Linux deletion.

Finally, insert the Windows Recovery disc (or recover the USB drive) and start from it. Select "repair computer", go to "Troubleshooting", and enter a command prompt. Type the following command

Bootrec.exe/fixmbr this will delete the Linux bootloader and restore Windows '.

Restart your computer and you will find that it directs directly to Windows without any Linux partition.

If you set a different Dual Boot Mode or Linux on a separate hard drive, or there are other operating systems on the drive, the operation method may be slightly different. But for most people, these commands are enough.
