In fact, for the sake of security, the software repository is updated only when the new version of Ubuntu is released. For example, if the default FireFox version of Ubuntu Jaunty is 3.0, FireFox will be upgraded to 3.5 only after Ubuntu9.10. In most cases, especially when it comes to browsers and network applications, it is best to upgrade them to the latest version because of their new features and security improvements. This is the time for Ubuntuzilla to take effect.

Ubuntuzilla is a python script that helps you check Mozilla software in the system (such as FireFox, thunderbird, Seammonkey) and update your software to the latest version from the Mozilla server.

Install Ubuntuzilla

Download the deb package to your desktop. (64-bit can go to this URL to download the ubuntuzilla-x.x.x-0ubuntu1-amd64.deb package .)

Double-click deb to go To the graphical installation interface. Click the Install Package button to Install the Package to your system.

Run Ubuntuzilla

Once you have completed the installation process, you need to turn off all your open FireFox (if you use thunderbird and Seammonkey for www. adbrite. cc, turn them off ).

Open a terminal and enter the following command:

Ubuntuzilla. py

It prompts you a series of questions.

The first question is whether you want to Update FireFox to the latest version. There is no doubt, enter 'y '.

Step 2: select your FireFox language type.

Then it downloads and installs the latest and stable FireFox version on your system.

At the end of the installation, it will ask you if you want to set up regular check for software updates.

Remove FireFox

For some reason, you do not like the new version of FireFox and want to switch back to the old version. You can enter the following command in the terminal:

Ubuntuzilla. py-a remove-p firefox

Then FireFox 3.0 will return to your system.

Note: There are many ways to install software. You can use the source code method. However, this article is a new installation method. To promote LINUX, we should start from a simple start, just like Ubuntu.
