How to upgrade software for TL-TR861 series wireless routers

1. Software upgrade (for example, XP operating system)

1. Download the software upgrade for the corresponding device model from the official website. The software upgrade must be consistent with the software and hardware version of the current device. Decompress the file and make sure that the folder contains the following files:

2. Right-click tpswupgradeclient.exe (the Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows 8 operating systems must run as administrators. When the TPSWUpgradeClient software is running, the software will call the USB_Driver in the extracted file. In different operating systems, you need to skip the steps of automatically installing the driver from the system, for more information, see section 2 (how to skip the Windows Automatic installation procedure ).

If the device connection status shows that no device is detected, make sure that the device is connected to the USB port and click "re-detect.

3. Click upgrade to start the software upgrade. During the upgrade, do not switch the power of the router or unplug the USB cable. The upgrade progress is shown below:

4. After the upgrade is successful, go to the vro management page to confirm that the upgrade is successful.

II. How to skip the Windows Automatic installation procedure

1. Windows XP

By default, the hardware installation wizard is displayed in Windows after you have inserted a TL-TR861 device on your XP computer:

Click "cancel" to skip the automatic installation of the driver for Windows. Skip this step and continue the upgrade process.

2. Windows Vista

After a TL-TR861 device is inserted on a Windows Vista computer, the hardware installation wizard pops up by default:

Click "cancel". The status bar will pop up after a period of time:

Click close to skip the automatic installation of the driver for Windows. Skip and continue the upgrade process

3. Windows 7

After TL-TR861 device is inserted on Windows 7 operating system computer, the status bar will pop up:

You can see that Windows searches for drivers from Windows Update by default. Click "Skip to get driver software from Windows Update" and wait for a while before it appears:

Click close to skip the automatic installation of the driver for Windows. Skip this step and continue the upgrade process.

4. Windows 8

You do not need to set Windows 8.
