1, Mightytext
If you are using an Android phone, then I strongly recommend that you try Mightytext, a software set that is all-in-one and can do almost anything I want to do.
The mightytext consists of two parts--the server and the client in general. A server is an application that you install on your own phone that can receive information from other devices and send information through your mobile network. The client is installed on the other devices you use, you can also send text messages.
On the computer, you can use the network application, on the tablet also has the corresponding software. The server and the client log on to each other via the Mightytext Google account, as if you were logging on to another server with a Facebook account.
Mightytext also has a Chrome browser extension that supports Gmail texting with gtext extensions, and you can see multiple conversations, missed calls, and battery power.
Installation is very convenient, simple and practical. All you have to do is make sure your phone and PC or tablet can be networked. Mobile phone with Wi-Fi and mobile data can be.
Send and receive SMS in the following ways:
Through the tablet application of the Android system
Chrome browser extension apps or Third-party Firefox plugins
Any browser can be applied through Web pages (you need to note that the browser setup steps)
2, Airdroid
Another good choice for an Android user is airdroid.
Similar to Mightytext, Airdroid is also connected by installing an application on a mobile phone, and also requires a network. The only problem with Airdroid is that the two devices must be in the same WiFi network, but this does not always work because WiFi security is strong (encrypted or otherwise). But once you've set it up, you'll get into a very good interface with a lot of features including SMS.
Your mobile phone and computer installation applications are very simple, according to the instructions on the program. And, the two devices must be under the same WiFi network, this should be very convenient and quick.
I find that airdroid is not mightytext convenient, but for those who like airdroid other functions, it is still very useful.

3, Google Voice
Last but not least, if you are in the United States you can also use Google Voice.
This method is not using the number associated with your phone, but with the number of your Google Voice account. Because all the text messages are on Google servers in Google Voice, you can check and reply to text messages with your phone, tablet, desktop, or any other device. This approach is only for people who often use Google Voice numbers or other Google Voice features, or you will often change your phone number (at least the number you give to someone) to send a text message. In addition, the Google voice does not support MMS.
The best thing about this method is that your phone doesn't have to be on the internet, it doesn't matter if you don't turn it on. You can send text messages just by turning on your computer. This is because all of the calls and text messages on the Google Voice number are first received by Google and then stored or sent to your own phone number.
So, the messages you get from your Google Voice number are on Google servers instead of on your phone, so you can also use Android or Apple's Google Voice to receive them.
When you first install this phone application, if you are not established or you are connected to Google Voice, it will help you build Google Voice features. This is a particularly simple process, but note that Google Voice will replace your voicemail with its own. If you don't like this feature you can skip.
