How to use Linux pico commands

Pico is a simple and easy-to-use, display-oriented text editing program that comes along with pine, a program that processes emails and newsgroups.

Syntax

Pico [-bdefghjkmqtvwxz] [-n <interval seconds>] [-o <working Directory>] [-r <edit page width>] [-s <spell checker>]

[+ <Number of columns>] [file]

Parameter description:

• -B. Enable the replacement function.
• -D. Enable the delete function.
• -E use the complete file name.
• -F supports function keys such as F1 and F2. .. on the keyboard.
• -G: displays the cursor.
• -H online help.
• -J: enable the switchover function.
• -K default pico deletes all contents of the column where the cursor is located when the command is run.
• -M enables the mouse support function. You can click the command list with the mouse.
• -N <interval seconds> specifies how often a new email is checked.
• -O <working Directory> sets the working directory.
• -Q: ignore the default value.
• -R <edit page width> sets the page width of the edited file.
• -S <spell checker> also specifies the spell checker.
• -T start tool mode.
• -V starts the reading mode. Users can only watch and cannot edit the file content.
• -W disables automatic line feed. You can use this parameter to edit columns with long content.
• -X: close the command list below the dashboard.
• -Z enables pico to be interrupted by Ctrl + z and saved to background jobs.
• + <Number of columns> when you run the pico command to enter the editing mode, edit from the specified number of columns.

Instance

Run the pico command to edit the testfile. Enter the following command in the terminal:

Pico testfile

The output result is as follows:
