How to use modem to connect two Windows XP Models

Use a modem to connect two Windows XP computers. The following conditions must be met:

L two computers with modem installed and modem driversProgramNormal Installation

L two independent telephone lines (two different phone numbers)

L configure a computer as a host

L configure another computer as a client

1. Configure the host

1) Open Control Panel-network connection, and click Create a new connection on the left.

2) click Next.

3) Select set advanced connection

4) select to accept incoming connections

5) Select modem and cancel other options. click Next.

6) select not to allow virtual private connections and click Next

7) Click Add in the new window to set the account and password for the visitor.

8) in the new window, set the account and password of the visitor, click OK, and click Next.

9) in the following window, confirm that the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is selected and click Next.

10) Click Finish. Now the host configuration is complete.

11) the incoming connection icon is displayed in the network connection.

2. Configure the client

1) Open Control Panel-network, click Create a new connection on the left, select connect to the Internet, and click Next

2) Select manually set my connection and click Next

3) select to connect with a dial-up Modem and click Next

4) enter a connection name and click Next.

5) enter the host phone number and click Next.

6) enter the account and password set for the visitor on the host and click Next.

7) Click Finish. Now the client configuration is complete.

8) the new dial-up connection icon is displayed in the network connection.

Iii. Mutual access

1) Open the control panel of the client-network connection. Double-click the dial-up connection used to access the host.

2) enter the account and password set by the host for the visitor and click dial-up

3) after the user name and password are verified, the successfully connected icon appears in the lower right corner of the taskbar.

4) Click Start-run and enter the name of the \ peer computer to access the shared files of the Peer computer. You can also right-click the "Network Neighbor" icon and select "search computer" to access the peer.
