Part 1: how to obtain and install software
Cineleld is one of the professional video editing software in Linux. It follows the GPL protocol and the source code is open. In fact, if you have the ability to compile code for this software, I suggest you install and use the source code directly, so that you can easily and freely modify the plug-in. Of course, this page describes how to install cineleld on each release, but the recommended method is not smooth on my Fedora 7, in fact, I don't catch a cold on all the items compiled by freshrpms. The compilation is always inefficient, the dependency is complex, conflicts with other libraries, instability, and the source code is not published in the official repository.
In fact, the source code downloaded from this page is compiled on my Fedora with only a few minor changes (add several output directories and the like), and the compiled program runs stably and perfectly. I don't know whether the same is true for other releases.
The above two links are actually different cineleld versions, official versions and Community versions. I use the official version, but it is said that the Community version is stronger and has fewer bugs. Please note that the Community version always includes the latest changes to the official version into your own version and then fixes the errors, but in fact, they are two independent versions that do not communicate with each other.
Part 2: System Requirements
According to cineleld, the CPU running of the software system is higher than 256 MHz, but the dual-core dual-dragon can greatly improve the performance of the software. The memory should be at least MB, however, it is a bit difficult to edit videos without 1 GB memory. The dual-core memory is just 1 GB and runs smoothly.
OK, start with the question, how to use it. The following two pictures show the boot screen and workspace introduction of cineleld. cineleld wants to edit the video file like editing a text file, it pursues powerful functions rather than beautiful and easy-to-use interfaces. Therefore, as far as I feel, many cineleld icons are too simple.
The default Interface consists of four windows to preview the view window of the clip, which is a Compositor window that displays the real-time editing effect, the Program window of the main workspace, and the Resources window of the clip area. Now, let me perform some of the most common video editing tasks step by step.
The first task you need to do is to create a New project (File-New) and import your files (File-Load files). The screen of the New project is shown in the figure above on the left, select the size of the project canvas you need. If you are not planning to show or export your video on the screen of a movie to DV, you do not need that large resolution, if you want to export the data to DV but select the resolution of 320x240, sorry, you may be a busy job.
The window for importing materials is shown in the preceding figure on the right. Usually, cineleld is best at operating non-compressed mpg or mov formats, but you may try to check whether your raw materials are supported by cineleld, note that the default option will replace the entire project with this clip. Generally, you should select Create new resources only.
After the materials are imported, you can drag the materials to the view window to select a part of the materials for editing. The selection method is, use the View window to play the video or drag the clip to the start point to set the split start point, set the split end point to the end point, and then click the button inserted to the workspace. The upper-left figure shows the positions of these buttons. Two buttons are also marked in the figure. The copy and paste mode allows you to edit text in the work window (select, copy, and paste) to edit the video. The drag and drop operation regards each clip added to the workspace as a whole. In the lower-right corner of the figure, right-click on the clip and select the Match frame rate menu. If you find that the final rendering result speed is different from the normal speed, you may need to click this menu.
In the upper right corner, I imported the second video clip and pulled it directly to the main workspace so that it is located behind the first clip, you can connect multiple videos into one video. The figure also shows the button for adjusting the ratio of the timeline and the position of the timeline, as well as setting the start and end buttons of the final rendering range.
