The fault recovery console is a tool used to repair the system in Windows 2000/XP/2003 operating systems. It can enable and disable system services, format disks, save disk data, and fix system faults, it is a "Magic Weapon" for us to repair the system when we cannot access the system (including the security mode). It is called a "life-saving straw" by users ".
Ii. How to enter the fault recovery console
Step 1: press the "Del" key on the keyboard to go to BIOS settings Program . Select "Advanced BIOS features" in the main menu, and press "enter" to enter advanced BIOS settings, then, select the "first boot device" option through the "unlock" and "unlock" arrow keys on the keyboard, press the "enter" key and select "CDROM" (set the first boot device as the optical drive ). After the settings are complete, press "F10" to save the disk and exit.
Step 2: insert the Windows 2000/XP/2003 installation disc into the optical drive, start the computer, the system will automatically boot with the disc, without user intervention, when the screen prompts, press any key on the keyboard to view the installation program screen of Windows XP (2). On the prompt page, press the "r" key and select the second item "to use the 'failure console' to fix Windows XP installation, press R." Option.

Step 3: press the "r" key, the system will automatically detect all the operating systems installed on the machine, and a prompt appears indicating which windows to log on, enter the serial number of the operating system you want to enter. In this example, "1" is entered. After you press enter, you will be prompted to enter the administrator password, enter the correct administrator password, and press Enter, when the prompt "C: \ Windows>" appears, the fault recovery console is started successfully (3 ).

To use the fault recovery console, You need to flip the installation CD every time and start from the CD, which is troublesome. In fact, we can also install the fault recovery console to the hard disk to enable the fault recovery console from the hard disk. Put the Windows installation CD into the optical drive, and then enter and execute the "X: \ i386 \ winnt32.exe/cmdcons" command in the "run" dialog box. (X is the drive letter, Please modify it yourself ), the Windows Installer Dialog Box appears, asking if you want to install the fault recovery console on the hard disk. Click "yes" to install the fault recovery console on the hard disk. Restart the computer and you will find an option named "Microsoft Windows XP Recovery Console" in the Multi-boot menu. With this option, you can access the system fault recovery console.
3. Bring the systems in danger to life
From the boot error prompt, we can see that it is "Hal. DLL file loss or damage causes the system to fail to start. Therefore, you only need to find the file with the same name from the installation disc and release it to the directory where the original file is located. The "i386" folder of the installation disc is an important folder where almost all system-level files are located.
Enter the following commands in the command prompt on the Recovery Console:
C: \ Windows> X: // X indicates the drive letter. Change it to your drive letter.
X: \> Cd i386 // switch to the i386 folder of the CD
X: \> i386> Expand Hal. dl_c: \ windows \ system32 \ // set "Hal. the DL _ "file is released to the" C: \ WINDOWS \ itemtype system32 \ "directory.
When the prompt "expanded a file" appears, it indicates that the "Hal. dll" file has been released. After the computer is restarted, the computer can be restarted (4 ).

The "Expand" command is the file release command. To reduce the size of all the dynamic link library files on the Windows installation disc and reduce the occupied space on the disc, they are all specially compressed. "DL. To replace a file with the same name lost or corrupted in the system, you must release it to the system using the "Expand" command.
4. Highlights of the fault recovery console
Fail 1: failure to start the fault
Problem: the system cannot start when a Windows XP Server is installed. The system prompts "ntldr is missing, press any key to restart" (5 ).

This is mainly because the ntldr file is lost or damaged. You only need to extract this file from the i386 folder of the Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 installation disc, copy it to the root directory of drive C and overwrite it. Enter the following command at the command prompt in the Recovery Console to restart the computer to fix the fault.
C: \ Windows> X:
X: \> Cd i386
X: \> i386> copy ntldr c: \ // copy the ntldr file in the i386 folder of the installation disc to the root directory of drive C.
Tip 2: coexistence of multiple systems and faults
If Windows 98/XP is installed on the GF machine, the following error occurs when Windows 98 is selected from the Multi-boot menu on the screen: "Access the Boot Sector file multi (0) disk (0) RDISK (0) Partition (1) \ Boot, with an I/O error" (6 ).

This is mainly because the boot partition file bootsect. Dos cannot be found to start Windows 98. In the process of installing multiple operating systems, we usually first install Windows 98, and then install a later version of the operating system, such as Windows 2000/XP/2003. During the installation of a later version of the system, the installer first saves the original boot partition as the bootsect. DOS file, and then puts its own boot program into the boot partition. Because the bootsect. DOS file is created by the installer during the installation process, you cannot copy and overwrite the file from the installation disc like other lost or damaged files.
First, type "sys C:" At the DOS prompt and pass the Windows 98 system file to drive C. Then, insert the Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003 installation CD into the optical drive, restart the computer, boot the system from the CD, when the screen appears, press the "r" key twice, when the installer runs the repair task option, select the "check startup Sector" option and move the cursor to the "continue (execute selected task)" option and press Enter, follow the wizard prompts until the "installation program has been fixed" prompt. Restart the computer to troubleshoot the problem.

Tip 3: Garbled Error
Difficulty: during system startup, garbled characters are displayed in any Chinese language, and English can be properly displayed.

This problem mainly occurs when the font file is bootfont. if the binfile is damaged or lost, extract the file from the i386 folder of the Windows 2000/XP/2003 installation disc and copy it to the C root directory to overwrite it. Hal. the two DLL files are copied to the X: \ windows \ system32 \ folder (X is the drive letter of the partition where the operating system is located). Multiple boot failures will not be cracked. This is a permanent task.
