How to merge a document into a main document

1. Click the view → outline → expand subdocuments button to expand the master document to show the contents of all subdocuments. If the subdocument you want to merge is locked, you must unlock it by clicking anywhere in the subdocument that you want to unlock, and then pressing the Lock Document button on the Outlining toolbar.

2. Click the icon for the subdocument that you want to convert as part of the master document. If the child document icon is not visible, press the master Document view button on the Outlining toolbar.

3. By clicking the Delete Subdocument button on the Outlining toolbar, you can change the contents of the subdocument into the contents of the master document.
