How XP modifies the computer name
Step 1th: Click Run from the Start menu and enter "Sysdm.cpl" in the Open Run window and OK.
Note: A simpler way to do this is to right-click on my Computer icon on the desktop and select Properties to open, and more system properties to open the method.
Step 2nd: Click the Computer Name tab in the Open Computer Name window and click Change in the Computer Name tab.
Step 3rd: Enter the new computer name in the text box under the computer name of the computer Names Change window in the open, and click OK to press the button, and the computer will be prompted to change the computer name, and the computer needs to be restarted before it takes effect.
The 4th step: Return to the Computer Properties window, confirm again, and then the system prompts "system settings change" requires a computer restart to take effect, the choice is the computer immediately restart, select whether the computer temporarily does not restart.
Win7 How to modify a computer name
1th step: Find the "Computer" icon on the Win7 desktop and right-click on the computer icon to select Properties.
Note: In addition to right-clicking directly on the computer icon, you can also start running "sysdm.cpl" to open System properties and more system properties to open methods.
2nd step: In the Open System window, you can see the computer name, domain, and workgroup settings, if you want to modify these on the right side of the change settings.
3rd Step: Click the Change button in the System Properties window.
Step 4th: In the open computer name/domain Change window, enter the new computer name in the Computer Name text box, and click OK to press the button to prompt the computer name/domain change to reboot the computer, and select OK.
Step 5th: When you go back to the System Properties window again, as with XP, you will be prompted to restart your computer to apply these changes, select "Reboot Now" or reboot later.
