HP recently released a new virtualization-oriented business technology optimization (BTO) software to help customers minimize business service risks and costs.
In addition, HP announced an agreement with Red Hat to jointly develop integrated solutions to simplify monitoring and management of heterogeneous IT environments. Due to the increasing complexity and dynamic characteristics of the virtual environment, virtualization brings a unique management challenge to the customer. At the same time, the increasing number of virtual machines will also lead to performance degradation.
To address these problems, the virtualization capabilities of HP's new business service management (BSM) and IT service management (ITSM) can optimize the performance of virtual infrastructure, balance the ratio of physical to virtual machines, and ensure effective control of the virtual machine environment.
In addition, based on HP's automated Configuration Management virtualization solution, the ITSM solution not only helps customers effectively control costs, but also improves the visibility of data center resources.
Gartner industry analyst Cameron Haight said: "infrastructure boundaries are becoming increasingly blurred. For other Virtualization Technologies (such as storage LAN and virtual LAN) that have been applied) the addition of virtual machines (VMs) in the data center makes it more difficult for people to determine where the problem occurs and how to solve it. This will lead to increased costs and may have a potential impact on service quality."
New hp bto software virtualization solution
New hp bto software virtualization capabilities are now available through HP Operations Center, HP Business Availability Center, and HP Network Management Center) obtained from the HP Service Management Center. Unlike dedicated tools that can only monitor physical or virtual environments, HP solutions can manage both environments.
HP Operations Agent, HP Performance Agent, and HP SiteScope added system management capabilities. For example, users can collect management data from all key virtual machine system managers, and then use the data to automate event and availability monitoring and management processes for the entire heterogeneous infrastructure.
HP Network Node Manager I-series-monitors Network performance and availability that support dynamic and virtualized environments. In addition, these products can proactively plan and monitor network capacity and network interface cards for the virtual environment.
HP Asset Manager-allows customers to determine and manage detailed totals and licenses of Virtual Machine assets, so they can plan future resource allocations to effectively reduce costs.
With HP solutions to centrally manage the virtual and physical technology environments, customers can now experience comprehensive service monitoring, faster problem isolation, and more reliable application problem diagnosis. In addition, enterprises can integrate, simplify, and standardize traditional and virtual technical assets.
Scott Steves, Kansas system network software consultant, said: "HP's virtualization capabilities can help us accurately manage complex and Hybrid Virtual and physical IT environments, reducing our costs. Our customers require access to business services, making sure our system meets performance and availability expectations the highest priority ."
New Cooperation with RedHat
Based on its strategic cooperation with VMware and Microsoft, HP software will also develop and integrate products with RedHat to help customers achieve seamless and automated management of heterogeneous environments, including the management of Redhat Enterprise Linux platform.
Katrinka McCallum, vice president of RedHat management solutions, said: "virtualization technology has played a significant role in promoting IT operation flexibility, accelerating deployment, and improving application performance and availability. Virtualization allows IT managers to better manage costs while providing customers with more advantages. We are very much looking forward to cooperating with the HP Software Department to develop new solutions to meet the needs of our common customers ."
Ramin Sayar, senior director of business technology optimization at HP Software, said: "With HP's new BSM product, customers can effectively control increasing complexity and management costs. This is critical for 98% of IT environments that use virtualization platform solutions from different vendors. Existing HP customers can continue to use industry-leading distributed system management products to gain better visibility and control over Heterogeneous Virtual and physical environments ."
