ILO is the abbreviation for Integrated Ligths-out, the integrated remote management port on the HP server, a set of on-chip integrated VxWorks embedded operating systems that connect to the working environment via a standard RJ45 interface. As long as the server is connected to the network and no power is disconnected from the server, regardless of the state of the HP server (boot, shutdown, restart), users can be remotely managed over the network. In short, ILO is a high-level remote KVM system that displays information about the server locally and uses a local keyboard and mouse to control and manipulate the server, and can map and load local disc images and folders as virtual optical drives to the server. With ILO, low-level BIOS setup, disk RAID configuration, operating system installation, and other underlying tasks can be completed, and the system can be remotely controlled and managed after the system installation is complete.

What is iLO2 advanced license?

Integrated lights-out 2 (iLO2) is divided into two levels: standard and premium. ILO2 Standard Edition only has the basic function of iLO2:

? Virtual power button, virtual UID indicator, virtual KVM character mode,

? Server event logs that can be integrated into the HP Unified Intelligent Management Platform SIM

? Integrated remote console, built-in system health check,

? Remote serial terminal, support shared high-speed working network interface

The ILO premium package makes it easy for HP ProLiant Server users to upgrade the features of the ILO Standard Edition, including the virtual graphical interface remote console, Microsoft Terminal Services integration, virtual floppy drive, virtual CD-ROM, and directory services.  Comprehensive remote management capabilities enable IT managers to easily manage data centers and branch offices across geographies. With the ILO premium package, IT managers can perform remote deployment, diagnostics, ROM upgrades, configuration, and system maintenance without having to be onsite.

All features can be accessed through standard browsers, such as Internet Explorer, without the need to install any hypervisor on the server and management side. The management of TCP/IP network is very suitable for the management of a large number of servers, and can save travel costs and improve work efficiency.

What is the difference between the three licenses for ILO 2 (License)?
1.) HP ILO2 Standard has basic lights-out features such as Remote Power control, serial console and device positioning indicator, network access and security features such as SSL, secure shell, private and shared network interfaces, and. It also provides access to system information such as time logs, system status, power consumption, and configuration.
2.) HP ILO Select Pack applies to the management of ProLiant BL blade servers and ProLiant ML/DL servers, respectively, by the ILO 2 standard Blade Edition and the ILO 2 standard, upgraded to full Li Ghts-out function. The ProLiant BL Blade server comes standard with a virtual KVM console for graphical console access, while all ProLiant ML, DL, and BL servers come standard with a remote serial console that is commonly used for command-line access. The HP ILO Select License Key activates enhanced console collaboration and replay, enterprise-level security, virtual media and virtual folders, and power management features.
3.) HP ILO Advanced Pack makes it easy to provide comprehensive lights-out functionality for the ProLiant server environment.
