HP recently launched a cost-effective sleekbook notebook with 14 and 15-inch two models, powered by AMD processors, while other products still use Intel processors. While Intel is still the absolute overlord in the PC World, there are still users who choose the products of other chip manufacturers, especially for the novice users, the price is definitely a more important consideration in the case of similar performance. Of course, Intel is also continuing to make low-end areas, which makes the price-winning AMD pressure, then the 15.6-inch screen and AMD four-core processor of the HP Sleekbook 15, is the ability to compete with the same level of Intel processor products, Let's take a look at the content of the evaluation.
HP Sleekbook 15 key parameter information:
· 15.6-Inch Bright View LED-backlit display (1366*768 resolution)

Industrial Design (good)
The HP Sleekbook 15 uses the engineering plastic fuselage, the top cover part uses the similar piano lacquer high-gloss design, the keyboard and the wrist support part also has the luster, but the fuselage bottom is the relatively dull black plastic, generally belongs to the more mainstream economical notebook style. Aside from the design sense, the overall size of the machine is large, after all, it can be understood that the 15.6-inch screen and full-size keyboard are accommodated.
Turning on the screen, you can see the internal design of the HP Sleekbook 15 fuselage, with a Dolby sound-enabled speaker on the top of the keyboard, and a metal power button on the left, which looks relatively minimalist. On the keyboard, the machine has a full-size keyboard with numeric keys, so it is more complete in terms of input feelings. However, the key area is relatively small and compact, so you may need to adapt a little bit to this use. The overall feel of the button is more comfortable, but a little adhesion of the feeling, in addition to the use of the button smooth material, may be more prone to leave oil. In addition, the smooth plastic material of the wrist rest hand is not very good, a long time typing temperature will be slightly hotter, but the edge is relatively smooth, not to make the wrist uncomfortable.
As you can see, the touch version of the HP Sleekbook 15 uses some texture particles to increase the friction, but in fact it affects the sliding effect, although the positioning may be more accurate, but I personally do not like this design. Since the use of laptops to browse the Internet or other basic operations, do not need to move the mouse cursor how accurate, but need a smoother cursor movement speed, so the HP Sleekbook 15 in this aspect of performance is disappointing, you may need to add a mouse to use. Touch pad also uses the physical right and left button design, two plastic material buttons feel general, in addition to the upper left of the touchpad design a circular concave point, double-click to achieve the function of locking touchpad
Most of the HP Sleekbook 15 interface is designed on the right side of the fuselage, you will see two USB 3.0 ports, a full-size HDMI output interface, an Ethernet interface, 4-in-1 card reader and power connector. On the left side of the fuselage, a USB 2.0 interface and a microphone/headphone jack are also designed, plus a vent for cooling.
Screen display effect (good)
The HP Sleekbook 15 has a 15.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1366*768 pixels and is basically an entry-level configuration. However, the display of this screen is better than expected, although not delicate, but due to the use of IPS panel, the visual angle is very broad, from the side of the text or images and other content when the basic no distortion condition. HP doesn't reveal the brightness of the Sleekbook 15 screen, so we can't tell you exactly how much the screen brightness is. In the indoor environment, it is a relatively comfortable range to adjust the brightness to 40% to 50%, but in the outdoor environment, even if the brightness is adjusted to the limit, it is difficult to see the content on the screen, the reflection of the mirror screen also makes reading more difficult.
Webcam effects (Excellent)
The HP Sleekbook 15 incorporates a 720P-resolution front-facing camera that lets you take pictures and make video calls, and we compare them to the front-facing camera of the Toshiba Kirabook for testing purposes. By contrast, the HP Sleekbook 15 was able to take a very good photo in daylight, with excellent color reproduction, contrast and brightness, no bias, and an image that looked sharp and better than Kirabook. In the low-light environment, although the noise began to increase, but the overall image quality is still satisfactory. Considering the huge difference between the machine and Toshiba Kirabook, we think the HP Sleekbook 15 's camera performance is still very satisfying.
Overall Performance (poor)
This evaluation of the HP Sleekbook 15 model is the B000 series, with the AMD four-core processor, with a 1.7GHz frequency (up to 2.5GHz). In actual use, I found that the performance of the machine can also meet the daily use of the needs, as long as not too complex operations or large 3D games, basically competent.
But in the software run sub-test link, it is another situation. First we run PCMark 7, which is a simulation of the actual use of computer running software, such as opening the application, start the computer, and do some minor graphics tasks. In this project, HP Sleekbook 15 scored only 1086 points, which is not ideal, especially compared to models with Intel Core series processors. So, even if the price of HP Sleekbook 15 is very cheap, it may not be a good choice if you need to do a lot of multitasking.
Then run the 3DMark 11 graphics test software, which will test the computer's graphics card in a series of tests, basically based on the game called "Call of Duty", "Assassin's Creed" and other mainstream games. In this regard, the HD 7500G integrated graphics used by HP Sleekbook 15 are more mainstream, and are basically consistent with models that use the Intel 4,000 set integrated. This means that you can run high-definition video playback smoothly, but HP Sleekbook 15 can be difficult to do with some of the latest large 3D games or complex video editing operations.
The last is the cross-platform processor performance test software Geekbench, which focuses on testing the raw performance of the processor. The AMD four-core a8-4555m, which is powered by the HP Sleekbook 15, is not very powerful, only 2768 points.
So in theory, the overall performance of HP Sleekbook 15 is not the same as the level of the Intel model, but considering the low-end notebook uses the technology is relatively backward, so the actual use of the difference is not very large.
Weight and performance ratio (poor)
We know that when you buy any PC, people tend to focus more on their hardware configuration, often ignoring what to do with the brain. One factor that many people overlook is the weight of the computer, which may be heavier than the average PC. Therefore, we consider the computer performance, but also the weight as a reference. Due to the low performance of the HP Sleekbook 15, the weight of the fuselage is 2.08 kg, so this part of the score is very low, and is not suitable for portable use.
Battery life (good)
The HP Sleekbook 15 incorporates a 4-cell, 37Whr lithium battery that does not stand out. In the case of WiFi connection, the screen brightness of 50% for some basic applications, one hours of power decreased by 19%, which means that the machine can get close to 5 hours of normal strength use time.
If you use the machine to play 1080P HD video with a screen brightness of 50%, the power drop to 30% in an hour means it can get 3.3 hours of local video playback, and for online streaming video, an hour of power consumption is 33%, which basically allows for a 3-hour battery life.
Battery charging time (excellent)
The HP Sleekbook 15 4-cell 37Whr lithium battery means it doesn't take too long to be fully charged, and it turns out that 0% of the power is filled to 100% and only takes 1.5 hours, a good result.
Evaluation Summary
To be sure, the HP Sleekbook 15 is a very cheap laptop, and it is currently the only price in HP products of about $550 (about 3370 yuan). But in the past, the overall bright spot of the machine is not much, the overall performance is more moderate. While the built-in camera works well and comes with a full-size keyboard and mainstream battery life, HP Sleekbook 15 may not be able to meet your needs well if you need to run multiple tasks frequently, or if you prefer to use a Web browser to open a bunch of tags.
