Note Tags <!--are used to insert comments in HTML. HTML Comment Tags
You can add comments to the HTML source code with the following syntax:
Instance
<!--write a comment here--
Note: There is an exclamation point in the start tag, but not in the end tag.
The browser does not display comments, but it can help record your HTML document.
You can use annotations to place notifications and reminders in HTML:
Instance
<!--This is a comment--><p> this is a paragraph. </p><!--Remember to add information here--
Annotations are also helpful for HTML error correction because you can comment one line of HTML code at a time to search for errors:
Instance
<!--don't show pictures now: -->
Conditional comment
You may occasionally find conditional annotations in HTML:
<!--[if IE 8]> ... some HTML here ... <![ Endif]-->
Conditional annotations Define only HTML tags that are executed by Internet Explorer.
Software program label
Various HTML software programs can also generate HTML annotations.
For example, <!--WebBot bot--> tags are enclosed in HTML annotations created by FrontPage and Expression Web.
As a rule, the presence of these tags helps support the software that creates these tags.
