The first section outlines the features of the snapshot implementation and the application environment, and the second section describes how to create and view snapshots.

Part One virtual machine configuration file

A virtual machine with the name "Windows Server 2003 SP2" is used in the test environment. When the Windows Server 2003 SP2 virtual machine is created, in this case, the virtual hard disk is stored in the T:\Hyper-V\Virtual Hard disks folder (as shown in Figure 1), and the virtual machine configuration file is stored in the T:\Hyper-V\ Virtual Machines folder (as shown in Figure 2).

Note that VHD and VHDX refer to virtual hard disks, which are supported in the VHD format by Windows Server 2008 R2. VHDX is the version supported after window 8, the maximum virtual hard disk can exceed 128GB, maximum 64TB. Avhd and AVHDX are snapshot hard disk files.
