IBM has identified two future research directions: faster processing of raw data and maximized ArchivingCompression. IBM Storage System Research Director Bruce HilLsBerg announced that the company would develop a so-called "race"TrAck technology, this technology will store data on different sectors for faster storage, the storage line will reach the nano level. This technology will be applied in the next five to seven years. The company may develop new storage technologies in the next three years to store 1-byte data in 1U.

The "racetrack" technology that IBM is considering to develop will pave the way for new storage devices. The new storage device increases the storage capability of home storage to the enterprise storage level. In the future, a portable player will be able to store 0.5 million songs.

Hillsberg said that the new storage devices in 2020 were greatly compressed in space and energy. The data stored in 1250 hard disk storages can be compressed into one hard disk.

Entertainment Industry storage problems
