What is an Internet Explorer add-in?

Internet Explorer Add-ins are components that are loaded into the browser for easy and efficient browsing. Common add-ons include additional toolbars, dynamic mouse pointers, stock market information and ad interceptors (ie tools for 3721) and so on.

How does an add-in load onto your computer?

Many add-ons come from the Internet. Most add-ons from the Internet require your permission before downloading them to your computer locally. But some will be downloaded and loaded in the unknown. This is usually because you allow all downloads for a particular site, or because the add-in is part of a program that you have previously installed. There are also some add-ons that were installed when you installed Microsoft Windows.

Some add-ons can cause Internet Explorer to close:

Load-like is generally safe to use, but it can sometimes cause unexpected shutdowns of Internet Explorer. This is usually because these problematic add-ons were designed and compiled for an earlier version of Internet Explorer and are not compatible with later versions.

The main uses of Internet Explorer Add-in Manager are:

View: Add-ins currently installed in the list operating system, List of add-ons used by Internet Explorer.

Update: If the add-in is an ActiveX control, you should check to see if the control has an updated version. If an updated version is available, you can update the ActiveX control add-in using the Add-in Manager dialog box.

Disabling: If an add-in frequently causes a recurring problem, you can disable it in the organizer.

Report: When prompted whether to report this problem to Microsoft, you can choose. This report information is completely anonymous. Through error reporting, you can enhance the performance of your products and encourage other developers to update and improve their corresponding products.

User interface:

The Add-in Manager interface can be accessed through the Tools menu of Internet Explorer or the Program tab in the Internet Options property.

In the organizer, you can set each add-in to be enabled or disabled individually. However, the Add-in Manager cannot delete the add-in. The manager can make available updates to the add-in when the installation location URL for the component is provided.

When the page you are browsing needs to load the add-on you have disabled, the Internet Explorer status bar prompts you to indicate that some content may not be loaded.
