What is Enterprise mode?

Enterprise mode is a compatibility mode that can be run on Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1 and Windows7 devices, which allows sites to render content using modified browser configurations, where the browser configuration is designed to emulate the Internet Explo RER 8 to avoid common compatibility issues related to Web apps written and tested on older versions of Internet Explorer.

Some of the changes that have been made to enable traditional applications to function properly require us to turn off newer features, even though these features still have a valuable advantage. For example, Internet Explorer can achieve a number of performance benefits by using the new tab switching feature. Unfortunately, these tab transitions may also cause navigation errors on older versions of third-party toolbars, so enterprise mode turns them off. Turning off this feature for all sites, not just those that need to turn this feature off, will never allow users to experience performance updates.

Enterprise mode includes the following features:

1. Improved app and website compatibility. By improving simulation, enterprise mode keeps many traditional applications running on Internet Explorer 11 and supports many site patterns that are currently not supported by Internet Explorer 11 document mode.

2. Tool-based management of the site list. Using the Enterprise Mode site List Manager tool, you can add site domain and domain paths, and you can specify whether the site renders content using enterprise mode. 3. Centralized control. Use Group Policy to enable users to turn enterprise mode on or off from the Tools menu and to determine whether the Enterprise browser profile appears in the Emulation tab of the F12 developer tool.

4. Integrated browsing. You typically use enterprise mode to browse the Web and let the schema change automatically.

5. Data collection. Collect local replacement data from the primary user and publish the data back to the naming server so that you can add the results to the centralized list and distribute the compatibility test.

Did a few demo test the effect of IE11 Enterprise mode in pure Browser application and WPF WebBrowser application, concluding a sentence is:

Enterprise mode is not available in WebBrowser applications,<meta http-equiv= "x-ua-compatible" content= "ie=11" > </META> this usage is still useful in IE11.

Specific Demo Conclusions

1. Enterprise mode is essentially a browser document mode.

2. Enterprise mode is to set the page document mode uniformly to IE8.

3. In a pure browser application, Enterprise mode has the highest priority, as long as Enterprise mode is enabled, even if the <! is set DOCTYPE html>, or x-ua-compatible ie=11, also does not work, still for IE8 document mode.

4. Enterprise mode only works with HTM browsing in the form of Web sites, which does not work if you open the local HTM file browsing directly.

5. In the WebBrowser application, the enterprise mode is not the spirit, on the WebBrowser of the browser HTM page, the enterprise mode does not work
