If itunes is unable to establish a connection to the Internet

On a recent trial of itunes, there were occasional "no requests to complete your itunes STORE, Internet connection denied", and no software or games to buy.

There may be several reasons why ITunes cannot connect to the Internet.

If you are using a cable or DSL connection, first check to see if you have used a router between your computer and your modem. Try connecting your computer directly to a cable modem or DSL modem, and try connecting to http://www.apple.com.cn.

Note: You typically need to turn off the cable modem and DSL modem for a few minutes before you can change the network configuration. Try turning off the modem for 5 minutes before connecting your computer directly to the modem.

If the router is not the problem, the most common reason you can connect to some sites and not connect to other sites is that the domain name server (DNS) settings are incorrect. Clearing the DNS cache may resolve the problem and allow you to connect to the ITunes Store.

The easiest way to clear the DNS cache is to completely shut down your system and reboot. If you do not want to select a shutdown, you can also manually clear the DNS cache.

To manually clear the DNS cache:

On your computer, click Start and choose Run.

Type "cmd" in the dialog box that appears (without typing the quotes) and click OK.

Type "Ipconfig/flushdns" after the DOS prompt (c:xxx) (without typing the quotes) and press the ENTER key. Make sure to enter a half-width space after "ipconfig".

Then turn off itunes and restart your computer, and then open itunes and link to the itunes store.

The DNS settings that your Internet connection uses are provided by your Internet service provider (ISP). If using the above steps to clear the cache still does not resolve the issue, you may need to contact your ISP and verify your DNS settings.
