Our brain is like a spherical lifeguard filled with bees. Hundreds of different forces let us go in different directions.
People will never concentrate on one thing. We always want to do everything. We want to learn Spanish and pizza while exercising. Desire is endless. These unrestricted desires are always pushing the lifeguard to the desired direction. But generally, the ball cannot go anywhere. These desires do not play any role, but the key lies in the terrain.
This is the way most people spend their lives. These desires conflict endlessly and we never have enough time to implement them. The result is that we cannot overcome the difficulties we face.
Let's fix it!
Curse of great ideas
Imagine that 20 years ago, you were a genius at the same time creating enterprise ideas for Google, Facebook, and Amazon. You have just had three of the best business ideas of the last century. If you start one of them, you are worth billions of dollars now. But if you decide to start these three companies at the same time, you will have no results, and you will never be named again.
It is not enough to have great ideas. Many people have great ideas. The problem is that too many of these ideas will offset each other.
This is also why a group of committees composed of smart people are called dummies. leadership is not calculated by number of people. The more you want to go, the shorter the distance you move forward.
How can we achieve this?
Think of a crazy and ambitious goal for yourself. For example, if you want to write a book or climb to Mars.
If you really want to achieve this goal, if your life and the lives of people you care about depend on it, how will you do it? What can you do? You can only put everything else aside and turn it into a bumblebee, working in one direction, you will move very fast.
Paranoia only focuses on one goal. This is probably the final success strategy. This is a model that can be found by every successful person, whether Edison or Einstein. When you can continuously focus on a goal, your achievements can achieve their theoretical limits.
Most people do not fail because of their potential, but because they have dispersed their potential in too many directions.
How can we tame this bee colony?
You always want to achieve more goals, but unfortunately you want to go to many directions to make yourself the fastest way to fail, while focusing on one direction is the fastest way to ensure your success.
So try this:
- Ding dazhi. If your ambitions are small, you can easily achieve them. However, the lofty aspirations will allow you to stick to them, because you will ignore all the small targets around you.
- Set goals in three aspects. List three different aspects of your life, such as "work", "home", and "Weekend". Each list has a goal. If you want to add more targets, you must know that the more targets you want to achieve, the less likely you will be.
- Learn to postpone. Anything that is not the most important should be put behind it. Mark Zuckerberg cleverly created Facebook and then learned Chinese. The same is true for your goals, but you are usually too focused on too many goals.
- Be careful with your imaginary thoughts. Pay attention to your ideas. Although they all look wonderful and helpful, they are all fatal. Remember, every time you add a target, it slows down your fulfillment of other goals.
Collect your Bumblebee. You may not create the next Google, create a cure for cancer, and log on to Mars. However, you may become a successful and robust CEO at the same time. Success and health are complementary goals: a healthier person can become a better leader. They are like two bumblebees, pushing forward in the same direction.
Those who make great achievements and change the world over their lifetime will never scatter their goals. They all have a ambition to bring together the bumblebee and strive to move forward and reject other opportunities in their lives.
If you want to have the power to pursue your dreams, you must reject other small goals. This is not easy, but at least for you, you know the price to pay.
If you want to follow your dreams, you have to think about nothing.
