2. Installation and configuration of IIS

A. Install IIS

If the IIS server is not installed in the operating system, open Control Panel, click Start Add/Remove Programs, select Add/Remove Windows Components in the pop-up dialog box, and choose Internet Information Services (IIS) in the Windows Components Wizard dialog box. Then click Next and Follow the wizard instructions to complete the installation of IIS. (Figure 1, figure 2, for example, because PC6 is using the Windows Server 2003 operating system, and everyone's installation interface is different, but roughly the same)

B. Starting Internet Information Services (IIS)

Internet Information Services is referred to as IIS, click the Windows Start menu---All Programs---administration tools---Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager to start the Internet Information Services Administration tool (Figure 3)

C. Configuring IIS

After IIS is installed, the system automatically creates a default Web site, and the site's home directory defaults to C:inetpubwww.root.

Right-click Default Web Site, select Properties from the shortcut menu that pops up, and you can open the Site Properties Settings dialog box (Figure 4), where you can complete all configuration of the site.

Home directory and enable parent path

Click the Home Directory tab to switch to the Home Directory Settings page (Figure 5) to implement changes or settings to the home directory. Note Check that the Enable Parent path option is checked, as unchecked will have a partial effect on future program operations. (Figure 6), home directory-Configure---options.

Set Home page document

Click the document tab to switch to the Settings page for the home page document (Figure 7) The home page document is the default paging file that is accessed by the system by typing the site domain name in the browser and without making the Web page file that you want to access. Common home page filenames include index.htm, index.html, index.asp, index.php, Index.jap, Default.htm, default.html, default.asp, etc.

The IIS default home page document has only Default.htm and Default.asp, and, as needed, the Add and Remove buttons enable you to set up a home page document that can be resolved for the site.

Start and stop the IIS service

Provides the ability to start and stop services in the toolbar of Internet Information Services. Click to start the IIS server, or click to stop the IIS server.
