To give you illustrator software users to detailed analysis to share the creation of cool and tasty watermelon word effect of the tutorial.
The following are the materials used in the tutorial:
New file, size: 600*300px unit: Pixel color mode: RGB
Edit > Preferences > General Settings Keyboard growth is 1px edit > Preferences > Unit
Set up units as shown in the following figure.
Using the Type tool, set the text value as shown in the figure below. Hit "SAMPLE", but A and l will be created later.
Create the letter A. Using the Star tool, make a inverted triangle of the values shown in the following figure. Open the Transform panel and select 180 to flip vertically.
Using the direct Selection tool, select the anchor point at the bottom, use the keyboard to move down the 9px, use the Anchor-point conversion Tool (SHIFT+C) to click the anchor point and move the handle.
Select points 1, 2. File > Script > Fillet script Enter a number with a schedule of 10. This will get two bottom rounded corners. Select point 3 and move up 15 pixels. Alternatively, you can use object > Transform > Move up to do this. Now use the Delete Anchor Point tool to delete 4, 5 points.
Finally, use the Convert Anchor Point tool to make the small rounded corners of the top
Move the a made above to her position. Make an oval 41*99 size, representing L. It is best to give these letters multiple copies, which will be used many times later.
A and e are not the same color.
Using the Rectangle tool, draw a rectangle with no fill on a letter. The width of the rectangle and the bottom of a letter are aligned. Use the Add Anchor Point tool to add an anchor point to the bottom of the rectangle, select this anchor to drag to the bottom of the a letter. Convert this point to a smooth point using the Transform Anchor Point tool. Also use this tool to transform the anchor points at the bottom of the left and right sides.
Here, your a letter should look like the following figure, and next, make the E-letter. Use the Ellipse tool to make a 81 pixel circle, the prototype and the left side of the e-letter should be the perfect combination.
Name Fakea, fakeb for the two shapes created above. Copy a spare.
Letter M, using a line segment tool to draw a straight line segment on the letter M. Select the letter M and this line segment and select split in the Pathfinder panel. Ungroup (ctrl+g), remove small shapes. Use the direct selection tool to select the anchor point at the bottom of the diagram, and then move down two points.
Use the Ellipse tool to draw three circles, combine them (ctrl+g), copy and layer the top (control+f), select the copy of the letter M copy and the three ellipse combinations, select the intersection in the Pathfinder panel, rename the newly-obtained layer to Fakem
By now, these shapes are almost ready. Use the Delete Anchor Point tool to select the anchor point shown in the figure to delete it. It's OK.
Select the letter S and fill the green. Add a new fill to the Appearance panel, changing the fill color to a darker green. Effect > Path > Offset path. Enter the offset of the -0.84px. This will get a thin edge.
As with the previous step, add a third color fill layer and fill the light pink. Effect > Path > Offset path, enter the -2.4px offset.
Add a new fill layer and fill the red gradient with the following figure. And then give a -6.3px offset. The effect is as shown in the figure
The fill is already counted, and now you need to add a point stroke. Select the first stroke of the light green fill layer to set the following figure, the effect > Path > Offset path, and enter the -2.8px offset path. This step is to get a thin, light green side next to the dark green, and adjust the offset if you can't see your stroke.
In the Appearance panel, add a second stroke. Select this stroke to give a -3.8px offset. Reduce transparency 60%. Color unchanged. The second stroke is just next to the first stroke. If not, you can adjust the offset.
Add a third layer stroke, apply -4.8px offset, and reduce opacity 30%.
Save and apply Watermelon style
Opens the Graphics style panel, which is next to the Appearance panel. From the Appearance panel, drag the watermelon style you just created into the graphic style bread. Save
Select those letters and apply graphic styles.
Select Fakea and Lettera, (as for the top) object > Clip Mask > Build. Use the above mask operation on Fakem, letterm, fakee and Lettere. As shown in the following figure operation.
Add texture to the NUTS section
Use the Pencil tool to draw some circles on each letter. Two to four depends on the size of the letter. Circle is best to cover the nuts area. The pencil value is set as shown below
Select all paths created in the previous step use the art brush to Stroke "chalk." You can make chalk in brush gallery > Art Brushes > Art Effects _. Set the brush size of 0.6pt.
Select all stroke paths and set the blending mode to overlay.
Use the Pencil tool again to draw some spirals as shown in the figure, using the "ink spatter1" brush to take the second of these helical curves. Set stroke size to 0.3pt. Sets the color to white.
You can see the settings below. In the Appearance panel, double-click the Stroke layer to open the Stroke settings box and enter the following values.
Set the texture blending mode you just created to color filter, opacity 30%
Add a clipping mask to the kernel texture
In this step, you need to add masks to those brush textures and clean the edges of each letter. Select the letter S, object > Path > Offset path, using the -6px offset. Now you've got a smaller red pulp area. Turn this shape to the front (ctrl+shift+]), and then click the Clear Appearance button in the appearance panel to clear all the fill and stroke. You'll need to use this shape later to add a mask.
Repeat the above action on the letter P.
At the very beginning, we copied all the shapes. Now you can use these copies. Select a copy of the Fakea. Object > Path > Offset to enter the offset of the -6px. Clears the existing appearance style. Select a copy of Lettera to select both copies. Click the intersection in the Pathfinder and you will get a pulp area path as shown:
The next letter is the same operation, choose Fakem cheap -6px. Also select Fakem and Letterm, and then remove the style. Keep the layer selected and use the intersection button of the Pathfinder. As shown in the following illustration:
The next e-letter is the same operation
First select those paths that have just been modified and put them in the front. Object > Arrange > Place the top, select S, select Nuts S and 4 small loops a Bandy Path object > Clip mask > Set up.
Repeat the above steps and now your watermelon should be shown in the following figure:
Select another copy of Letterm to place the layer at the end. The direct selection tool selects the anchor point below as shown in the figure
Make a 16*16 size circle with no fill and black strokes. Using the direct Selection tool, select the top anchor point to use the keyboard keys up to 8px, drag the handles on both sides, is their short point. Select the anchor points on both sides to make the handle a bit longer. Name this layer as "Seed-shape"
Select the "Seed-shape" layer, the object > Path > Offset path to enter the -2.5px offset, get a smaller seed shape, move a little bit online. Name "Seed-middle" and select "Seed-shape" to enter the -5.5px offset. Named "Seed-small".
Fills the path above with a gradient.
Select "Seed-shape" to copy and paste the top. Use the Scissors tool to click on the two points shown in the diagram to cut open the path. Remove the top half of the path, give the next half of the path second white edge, use the blend art brush "white mixed Art Brush _ Fine", this brush in my another tutorial "create multi-purpose Mixed brush" is introduced. Set stroke size 0.25pt, opacity 80%. When you are finished, select this Path object > expand the Appearance. Select all layers on this seed, group (CTRL+G). Named Seed1
Copy seed1 and select Seed-small path. Then move it to the left and change the gradient of the middle path. Select a group to reduce the transparency of this stroke by 50% after the brush stroke is extended. Because it does not want to be known as a seed that looks all one brightness. This group is named Seed2
Select Seed2 Object > Transform > Zoom, enter 22%, tick the copy. So we get the third seed, select the Seed-middle of this group, change the gradient, and select the Seed-small path to be transformed into a white fill. Others remain unchanged. Name Seed3.
Unfortunately, we can't save a shape with a gradient fill as a brush. But there is a way. Copy seed1 to replace the three paths of this group with fill colors as shown. Now select the new seed and drag to the brush panel to store the brush for the discrete seed.
Add seeds to watermelon people
Select the first letter s, use the Oval tool to draw an ellipse, use the seed brush you just created, and double-click the brush stroke to open the Brush Options window, you can try different values, but you need to rotate along the path.
Draw two paths on the letter M, stroke with a seed brush, and set it on a single tab.
Continue with the letter p, using the Ellipse tool, using the same stroke. Don't worry about overlapping seeds, because you can erase them later.
So far your watermelon should be shown in the following figure, if you are not satisfied with the system modification, you can just create all the stroke path objects > Extension objects. So you can adjust each seed.
Now you need to recolor the seed, select Seed1, select the tool directly and choose a green shape and choose > Same > Fill color. Now all the green shapes are selected. Select the Eyedropper tool and use it to copy the gradient from the original layer.
Select the purple section, use the same method to select all the purple shapes, and then change all the gradients.
Repeat for the yellow area.
Do you remember the seed1,seed2,seed3 you created earlier? You can add some seed2 and seed3 to make the watermelon more natural overlay some seed2 and seed3 place some. To reduce opacity 50%-70%, here are some examples to refer to.
Place some seed1 at the top of a. Then place a small amount of seed2,seed3. The opacity is adjusted to 70%.
Select the letter m,e and repeat the above action.
In the end your watermelon word should look like this.
Create the appearance of the letter L
You can do this in three steps. Select the Ellipse tool, fill the radial gradient, and then use the Pen tool to draw three paths as shown. , using the art brush to stroke the path, "BRUSH1" sets the size "0.25Pt".
Select these three paths, objects > expanded skins, effects > Distortions and variants > rough, enter the values shown in the figure, select the extended look again, and then fill the gradient as pictured.
Remove the gradient fill from the oval-shaped copy, either at the front (ctrl+f) or through the object > Arrange > Put in front (shift+ctrl+}). Select three patterns and elliptical path Replica objects > Create clipping masks > Build (ctrl+7) to this letter L is almost there.
Use the Pen tool to draw some paths at the edge of the watermelon. I drew four, you can have more than one, random. Use the blend art Brush > White blend Art Brush 100*3 brushes, set brush size 0.5pt, reduce opacity 75%.
Create a similar ellipse with Seed-shape, fill the gradient, angle 50. Sets the blending mode color burn. Copy this layer as far as the top, the top left corner of the net moves. Fill with a black and white gradient, and the blending mode is green.
Use the Pen tool to draw a path in the upper left corner of the juice drop and set the 0.5pt size stroke using the art brush you used before. Choose an expanded look, ctrl+g combine juice drops, and copy one. Arrange as shown in the following figure.
First create a rectangle named "Background", the radial gradient, and the color value as shown below.
Copy and paste at the top, Effect > Twist > Glass, set numeric values as shown below, blending mode to multiply, 40% opacity.
In this step, you need to copy a letter path. At the end, objects > Arrange > are placed at the end (shift+ctrl+[). Remove the existing appearance, Effect > styled > Projection. The settings shown in the following illustration.
