Impact of XP [region and language options] On Environment Configuration

Join a project team halfway. First, configure the development environment. However, this problem caused me to reload the system for more than a day, finally, the environment is configured with the help of the Project Manager.

 

This is a project for Japan. The main requirement is the management of bills and tickets. The environment is Oracle 10g + Excel, Excel uses a control provided by the Japanese company to operate the DB, but this control makes me spend a day on it.

 

I don't know why, the control is not properly installed. Running the VBA code that my colleague has tested always has errors, and the project team lead has not found a solution, the project manager thought it was the interference of other software on my computer, so I uninstalled those IDES (vs6.0, vs2005), but the problem was still not solved and there was no solution, the manager asked me to reinstall the system.

 

After the system is ready, the control is installed, but the control cannot be connected to the database, and it has not been resolved after several hours with the team lead. After work, the Manager will come to help solve the problem, he thinks the [region and language options] of my system are incorrect, because the system is Japanese XP, but I am in [standard and format, I chose [China region] and [location] [Japan]. He thought I should choose [Japan region] instead of [China region].

Although this problem can be said that the control is not well internationalized, it is such a small problem that I cannot solve, and the manager can quickly find a solution, this can only be summarized as "this is experience" in the manager's words. I asked him later why he could think of such a solution.
