Implement Windows XP and CentOS 6.4 dual systems on a 32-bit PC

The Windows XP and CentOS 6.4 Dual systems were successfully implemented last night, and for the first time, CentOS was run on actual hardware.

In fact, many of the online tutorials are very clear, I am here to my own experience and key points to write about.

I also use a USB flash drive to install the CentOS, before this, the computer already has the XP system, the main partition has a, 15G, is XP, the extension partition logical partition several, specially for/and home also has/swap reserved three logical partitions, respectively is 15g,20g and 2G.

The USB flash drive is in 8g,fat32 format. Computer BIOS modification Start mode and so on I believe we all know.

1, Online has a post said with UltraISO write U disk, only keep images, isolinux two folder and Trans.tbl file, only three files can, I do so, usb-hdd+ write to MBR, write DVD1 Mirror Way is also this. Then the DVD image 1 and 2 are copied into the USB flash drive, because I installed the 32-bit CentOS, so the main mirror DVD is not more than 4GB, temporarily did not encounter other posts in those U disk format is FAT32, and then the image file over 4G, copy does not go into the phenomenon, later encountered the words again, I saw someone using a U disk partition way to solve, I have not tried.

2, enter the installation of the first interface, select the first option. This time the name of the USB stick is/sda4, so you need to choose this option to let the installer find the DVD image. Because the virtual machine has been installed many times, so skilled, select the partition, to enter the custom partition option, in order to use a dedicated to the CentOS zoned logical partition.

3, because of those thoughtful programmer, CentOS will be installed to help users set grub, this time must be careful, can not put grub to the/SDA on the USB stick, see clearly, to set to the main hard disk main partition of the PC, then it is likely to be/sdb or/SDC on, I am setting up on the disk where XP is located. The default Grub first boot order for Windows XP, for convenience will not be used by the Linux family.

After the setup as if there is nothing to write clearly, the whole process step down on it, kdump I did not set.

After completion, reset the BIOS to start the first order of the primary hard disk, and then after the computer hardware self-test, will jump out whether to enter the Grub interface, countdown 4 seconds, if the key during the period, you can enter the option to enter the Windows XP or CentOS system interface.

Incidentally found the problem has, but also did not find a solution to the answer:

32-bit PC and XP running UltraISO, on the Kingmax super-good write image when the speed is faster, remember the fastest 12mb/s, but the same version of UltraISO, the same image, on 64-bit AMD and 64-bit Win7, When the Kingmax is written, the speed falls to the 400kb/s multipoint. And the same 64-bit environment, the same UltraISO software and image, write to another USB flash drive, at least the speed is MB/s level. It is difficult to find the reason on the Internet, only speculation is kingmax super-good u disk chip problem.
