Important understanding of the relationship between SketchUp components and layers:

1. Different copies of the same component can be placed on different tiers. The choice of the layer determines whether it is displayed or not

2. The same component copy can only belong to one tier at a time

3. A component may be displayed only if its parent component is displayed (the layer to which it belongs is opened)

4. When editing a group or component, you can use "Hide other models" (in Window--model info--components-fade rest of The Hide check box after the model is set). This option toggles the ability to hide other geometry when editing a group or component, which is important for models with many objects, not to look at preoccupied.

5. Modifications to the component itself will affect all copies of the component

6. The parent component of a component can have only one

7. Components based on the LAYER0 element (at other layers) are still displayed after the Layer0 is closed.

You can combine individual components in the same way as: device---> System. Because a copy of the same component can only be on one layer at a time, if you want it to appear on a different layer, you can add some invisible attachments on the component basis (for example, add some text descriptions that are 0 layers, then make up a new component and then hide the 0 layers) and group the new components. This new component can be placed on a different layer. This process can be repeated multiple times, to facilitate the division of a component into different locations, on different systems, and at different levels of the system, and to control whether or not they are displayed. Of course, to show a layer of something, all the layers on it need to be opened, and the layer of the appended text description is hidden. Layer layers can be complex when you have more locations and system hierarchies. Fortunately, SketchUp has a plugin that can manage the display and hiding of multiple layers of a combination at once. Otherwise, the display of each open and close layer is tiring.

A basic component, such as a valve, should not be set as a base component if it is necessary to have different states and colors in different locations. Multiple base components suitable for juxtaposition. or groups (group). In this way, changing the color of one of the objects does not affect the color of other objects.

To illustrate the above understanding, a small example is created with the following link:

To illustrate the situation of multiple premium tiers, the examples are updated as follows, with the following links:
