Michael Bernstein, the development leader of the Microsoft UI Platform team, has been focusing on the ease of use of Windows. Here are some of his ideas for window 7 usability:

Michael is committed to building Windows 7 as the most Easy-to-use operating system in Microsoft's history. But the concept of ease of use is far from being the simplest word on the surface. Because the problem itself is complex, the answer is naturally not much simpler. Michael explains the improvement of window 7 in this respect from 4 aspects.

1. Establish a UI Automation base

In Vista, Microsoft introduced a new core component on ease of use called UI Automation. UI Automation enables users to make operations easier by using computer-assisted technology.

In Windows 7, Michael spends a lot of time and effort improving the performance of UI Automation and developing a new native API to ensure that it is more computer-assisted 挼 you use it effectively. Currently, programs developed with C + + and. NET can make good use of this technology.

2. Improve some of the built-in ease of use lifting tools

The Michael team has also made improvements to some of the tools built into Windows. Microsoft has maintained a good relationship with a number of counter software vendors, enabling these vendors to provide a better user experience for disabled users. But as Windows itself, there are some tools built into it to ensure that Windows is very easy to use without any software installed. In Windows 7, the virtual keyboard and Magnifier are mainly improved.

Virtual keyboard:

* More exquisite appearance

* Can adjust the size arbitrarily

* Tablet PC users can switch between handwriting and typing arbitrarily

Magnifying glass

* Provide full screen mode and lens mode

* Provide small toolbar will gradually translucent to watermark when not in use

3. Make it easier to develop ease-of-use software

Windows APIs themselves do not provide ease of use, so Michael and his team have developed a tool called UI Accessibility Checker to detect software usability and provide advice.

4. Make a plan for ease of use from the very first day

To make Windows itself extremely easy to use, each of the planned Windows 7 features will be easily graded before each line of code completes.

Xiao Bian: Regardless of people's attitude to Microsoft, no matter how Windows 7 or how it will be, Microsoft and its employees this is not only the general user-oriented, but also for the disabled users to consider this spirit is indeed admirable.
