Oracle 11g has made some improvements in optimization. Oracle automates the following optimization:
- Redo Logfile Sizing Advisor-this feature recommends Redo the optimal size of log files to avoid excessive disk I/O caused by frequent checkpoints.
- Automatic Checkpoint Tuning-Oracle database can now optimize checkpoints to achieve good recovery speed and reduce the impact on normal throughput. You do not need to set any checkpoint-related parameters.
- Automatic Shared Memory Tuning -- Automatic Shared Memory Tuning automatically configures System Global Area (SGA) Memory-related parameters (buffer cache and Shared Pool) through the self-Tuning algorithm ). It simplifies database configuration, ensures the most efficient use of available memory and improves performance.
- Transaction Rollback and Recovery Monitoring -- this feature allows you to estimate how long it takes to roll back a Transaction. You can also monitor the progress of the recovered transaction and estimate the average transaction recovery speed.
- SQL Tuning -- SQL Tuning Advisor automatically optimizes high-cost SQL statements.
- Automatic Storage Manager-Automatic Storage Manager (ASM) Simplifies the management of Oracle-related files.
Oracle also provides some Advisor, such as Segment Advisor and Undo Advisor. Based on the degree of Space fragmentation in the object, Segment Advisor provides suggestions on whether to perform a new online contraction operation on the object. In addition, this Advisor provides reports on the historical growth trend of segments, especially for capacity planning.
On the other hand, the Undo Advisor helps the Administrator adjust the tablespace size in the flashback and non-flashback features to make the correct judgment. It provides suggestions for administrators to set UNDO_RETENTION appropriately to avoid the problem that snapshots are too old.
