scenario: in the development of SharePoint, we often need to communicate by receiving and parsing mail.
Solution: There are usually two ways: one is to use the company's Exchange server directly, and one is to configure SMTP Virtual server on the same server as the SharePoint server.
Let's introduce the latter way.
First step: Install SMTP Feature. Open the server Manger by running the COMPMGMT command or directly to the Control Panel. Verify that the SMTP component has been successfully installed.
Step Two: Configure SMTP Virtual Server by running INETMGR6 or by opening IIS 6 Manager. Note: If your Windows Server (for example, the machine name is: USWAPPP)
IIS7 is installed on the installation, SMTP Virtual Server can be found only on the IIS6 Admin Center side.
Focus on configuring 1:fully-qualified domain name (for example: uswappp.microsoft.com) and smart Host (mailhost.microsoft.com). The two are equivalent. The former is used for positioning in the network, which is used as the name of the mail server.
Key Configuration 2: The size of mail messages and attachments is set appropriately according to the police of each company's mail. Session size must be greater than or equal to message size.
Key Configuration 3: Configure outgoing message information.
Outbound SMTP Server provides the smart host information (for example: mailhost.microsoft.com) that is mentioned in the above key configuration 1.
From address and reply-to address.
Key Configuration 4: Configure incoming mail settings.
If you are using a separate configuration for SMTP Virtual service on your SharePoint server, this page will be editable.
Email Server Display Name: Fill it out.
Email Drop folder: Be sure to specify the appropriate folder. Here's how it works, and the incoming mail will be placed under this folder first, and then distributed through SMTP Virtual server.
Key Configuration 5: Configure incoming mail settings for list
