1. Create and format a new partition (volume)

To create a partition or volume on a hard disk (these two terms are usually used together), you must log on as an administrator, in addition, there must be unallocated disk space on the hard disk or available space in the extended partition on the hard disk.
If there is no unallocated disk space, you can create some space by shrinking the existing partition, deleting the partition, or using a third-party partition program.

1. Right-click "Computer Management". (if the system prompts you to enter the administrator password or confirm the password, enter the password or provide confirmation );

2. Under "storage" in the left pane, click "Disk Management ";

3. Right-click the unallocated area on the hard disk and click "create simple volume ";

4. In the new simple volume wizard, click next ";

5. Type the size of the volume to be created (MB) or accept the maximum default size, and then click "next ";

6. Accept the default drive letter or select another drive letter to identify the partition, and then click "next ";

7. In the format partition dialog box, perform one of the following operations: If you do not want to format the volume immediately, click "do not format this volume", and then click "next ";

To format the volume using the default settings, click "next ";

8. Review your selection and click "finish ".

II. Format the existing partition (volume ).
Note: formatting the volume will destroy all data on the partition. Make sure to back up all the data to be saved before you start the operation.

1. Right-click "Computer Management". (if the system prompts you to enter the administrator password or confirm the password, enter the password or provide confirmation );

2. Under "storage" in the left pane, click "Disk Management ";

3. Right-click the volume to be formatted and click format ";

4. To format the volume by default, click OK in the format dialog box ";

Click OK again ".

Note:
1) the disk or partition currently in use (including Windows partitions) cannot be formatted.
2) The "execute quick formatting" option will create a new file table, but will not completely overwrite or erase the volume. "Quick formatting" is much faster than normal formatting, and the latter completely erased all existing data on the volume.

3. Delete hard disk partitions.
You must log on as an administrator to perform these steps. When you delete a hard disk partition or volume (the term "Partition" and "volume" are usually used interchangeably), a blank space is created for creating a new partition. If the hard disk is currently set to a single partition, it cannot be deleted. The system partition, boot partition, or any partition that contains the virtual memory paging file cannot be deleted, because this information is required for Windows to start properly.
Solution:
1. Right-click "Computer Management". (if the system prompts you to enter the administrator password or confirm the password, enter the password or provide confirmation)

2. Under "storage" in the left pane, click "Disk Management ";

3. Right-click the volume to be deleted (such as a partition or logical drive) and click delete volume ";

4. Click yes to delete the volume.

(Improper partition operations may cause data loss. We recommend that you copy important data to the USB flash drive or mobile hard drive before performing this operation. If encrypted data exists, decrypt the data and back up the data before performing this operation)
