Before giving you a detailed introduction to the configuration of the D-link router, first let everyone know the corresponding parameters in the configuration mode, and then give a comprehensive introduction to Internet sharing, select the most simple solution of using a Broadband Router.

Parameters in configuration mode

The basic knowledge in the D-link router configuration mode is similar. NAT can convert the reserved IP address of the LAN to the wan ip address. However, in SOHO applications, other users on the Internet need to be able to access Intranet services such as Web and FTP, which requires port configuration for NAT, to implement various applications under the NAT protocol. In the service form, click Network Address Translation and select NAT Rule Entry in NAT Option. Click Add and enter the following parameters:

Parameter description:
1. Rule Flavor: Rule type.
2. Basic Rule: Provides translation of the reserved IP address to the wan ip address, but the port does not change.
3. filter Rule: similar to Basic Rule, it provides the conversion from a reserved IP address to a public IP address, but this translation only happens when the local IP address is sent to access a specific IP address and the specific service Web/FTP.
4. NAPT Rule: the default factory settings of the system. This setting translates the reserved IP address and port of the local network into a single IP address of the public network and the port specified in the NAT global configuration. This method provides the most secure protection for the LAN.
5. bimap Rule: This method completely transparently maps a PCIP address in the bureau network to a public IP address, so that many complex applications such as MSN voice can run online games on this PC normally.
6. RDR Rule: Through address and port configuration, users on the Internet can access the Intranet services such as Web Server or FTP Server over the wan ip address of the router.
7. Pass Rule: although many preset rules enable the translation board to retain the IP address to the public IP address, some fixed IP addresses cannot be translated into wan ip addresses by setting PASS rule. 8. Rule ID: Judge the sequence number of the address translation Rule. The smallest sequence number is executed first. If the Rule is correct, it is not judged to a higher ID. 9. IF Name: select the corresponding wan interface, such as PPP and 1483B. 10. Protocol: select TCP, UDP, and ICMP ).
11. Local address From: Use the starting value of the rule's Local IP address. If you select all, enter 0.0.0.0.
12. Local Address To: Use the rule's Local IP address end value. If it is a single IP address, enter the IP address start value. If you select all, enter 255.255.255.0. 13. Global Address From: No need to modify. 14. Global Address To: No need To modify. 15. Destination Port start value: the destination IP port start value. 16. Destination Port termination value: the end value of the destination IP address. 17. Lacal port: local IP port.
Example 1: configure the internal network IP address 192.168.1.2 to provide external WEB services, and 192.168.1.3 to provide FTP services.
Example 2: For more network applications, such as MSN and online games, set 192.168.1.2 to the transparent translation of Bimap. Note that special ports are required for MSN speech, therefore, this method is not supported. Example 3: With NAPT settings, only 30 PCs can be shared with ADSL in the range of 192.168.1.2 to 31 ):

Connect the two computers to share the internet, and choose to use a Broadband Router.

At present, there are many brands of broadband routers on the market, with different quality and different prices. The main hardware of a Broadband Router includes the processor, memory, flash memory, wan interface, and LAN interface. Among them, we can directly see a WAN interface connecting to the Broadband Network Portal) and four interfaces with hub and switch functions. Among them, the model and frequency of the processor, the size of memory and flash memory are the key to determining the bandwidth router grade. Ordinary low-end broadband routers use x86 processors with a frequency of up to 100 MHz at 33 MHz. The memory size is 4 MB and the medium-to-high memory size is not less than 8 MB ), such a Broadband Router is suitable for ordinary home users.

Software settings

Almost all broadband routers can be configured using WEB pages. The WEB setting method is both intuitive and convenient. Let's set it together! Select a computer connected to the Broadband Router, and set the IP address of the computer to the same network segment of the Broadband Router. The general Broadband Router instruction manual contains the default IP address when the product is released, for example, if the default IP address of the Broadband Router is 192.168.1.1, set the IP address of the computer to 192.168.1.2 and the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 ". After the configuration is complete, except for the Win98 operating system, the Win2000 and WinXP operating systems will take effect without restarting), enter the default IP address of the router in the browser address bar, and press Enter. In the logon window, enter the password in the manual and click "Log in" To Go To The Broadband Router management settings page. The management setting interface is divided into the left and right columns, the left column is the main menu, and the right column is the corresponding setting content.

Make the right choice based on the bandwidth type you have accessed. The first item "Dynamic IP Address" indicates that the access bandwidth IP Address is Dynamic. The second item "PPP over Ethernet" and the third item "PPTP" indicates that the broadband network requires virtual dialing, generally, if China Telecom's ADSL and China Netcom use virtual dial-up Internet access, select the second item "PPP over Ethernet". The last "Static IP Address" refers to the user who accesses the broadband IP Address as a Static IP Address.

Select the bandwidth type you want to connect to, and click "Next" to set the following. The first dynamic IP address is the easiest to set. If it is China Telecom's ADSL or China Netcom broadband, you need to set the user name and password for virtual dialing in this step, and click "Save" to Save the settings. Similarly, if the broadband network is a static IP address, enter the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS, and other information here. After setting and saving, click "System Status" to view the working Status of the Broadband Router. In this example, dynamic residential bandwidth is displayed. In the "Advanced Setup" on the left-side menu, you can further set the Broadband Router.

Here, I change the IP address of the Broadband Router to 192.168.0.1, And the IP address segments allocated to the client by DHCP are from "192.168.0.2" to "192.168.0.199 ". The IP addresses in this range can access the Internet, Otherwise other IP addresses will not be able to access the Internet. Therefore, after setting a Broadband Router, note that the IP address of the client computer must be in the same network segment as the IP address of the Broadband Router. In addition, when the DHCP function of the Broadband Router is enabled, the Broadband Router will automatically assign an IP address to the client computer, which reduces the setting of the client computer. "WAN Type" allows you to set the user's broadband network access Type in detail. After the Broadband Router is set up, you only need to simply set the other client computers with the Broadband Router to achieve shared Internet access.

The client computer settings are quite easy. In the Win9x operating system, open the "Network Neighbor → properties → configuration" window, select "TCP/IP properties" for the NIC, and change the "IP address" column to "automatically retrieve IP addresses ", "Gateway" is set as the IP address of the Broadband Router "192.168.0.1". After the system is restarted, the Internet can be accessed. In Win2000, select "local connection> Properties> TCP/IP> Properties" in the "Network and dial-up connections" window ", set both the IP address and DNS server to "automatically obtained". After saving the settings, you can access the Internet. The WinXP operating system also sets the IP address and DNS server to "automatically obtained" in "Start> set> network connection> Local Connection> Properties> TCP/IP> Properties ", save the settings. The D-link router configurations are the same.
