Industrial board computer built with Raspberry Pi computing module
GuideOn the Kickstarter crowdfunding website, a project named "MyPi" uses the Raspberry Pi computing module to create an SBC (Single Board ComputerSingle Board Computer), Provides a mini-PCIe slot, serial port, wide range of input power, and module expansion and other functions.

You may be wondering why someone has released such a sandwich that looks a bit like a sandwich, built on the outdated ARM11 COM (Modular computerCompuer on Module) Version of Raspberry Pi board computer: Raspberry Pi computing module. The reason is that, first, there are still a large number of industrial applications that do not require too much CPU processing capabilities. Second, the Raspberry Pi computing module is still the only one based on Raspberry Pi hardware, although cheaper, a bit like COM and using the same 700 MHz processor, Raspberry Pi is similar.

In addition, Embedded Micro Technology also said its SBC was also designed to be upgraded and replaced with a supported Raspberry Pi computing module-using the Raspberry Pi 3 quad core, Cortex-A53 Broadcom BCM2837 processor SoC. Because this product will soon arrive, it's not sure how they can handle it for Kickstarter sponsors in a timely manner. However, it will be quite good to support it in the future, even if you want to pay for this upgrade, you can accept it.

MyPi is not the only commercial embedded device based on Raspberry Pi's computing module. Pigeon Computers launched the Pigeon RB100 project in December May. It is a COM-based industrial automation controller. However, most of these devices, including Techbase Modberry, appeared in a short period of time after the release of COM in 2014.

MyPi aims to raise $21,696 in 30 days and has achieved 1/3. The price of the early-phase package starts from $119 and will be shipped in July. Other options include $187, which contains the $30 Raspberry Pi computing module and various cables. The kit also has various plug-in boards and optional industrial casings.

And Its Interface Definition

The Raspberry Pi computing module can provide MyPi with BCM2835 Soc, 512 MB memory, and 4 GB eMMC storage space. The MyPi motherboard extends a microSD card slot, an HDMI interface, Two USB 2.0 interfaces, a 10/100 M Ethernet port, and a RS232 port like a network port (connected via USB ).

MyPi will also be equipped with a mini-PCIe slot, which is said to be "only support USB, and only applicable to modem in the form of mPCIe ". It also has a SIM card slot. The dual-standard Raspberry Pi camera interface, an audio output interface, RTC with spare batteries, and LED lights are also available on the board. It also supports 9-23 v dc input in a wide range.

Embedded Micro said that MyPi was designed for Raspberry Pi fans who had spliced too many HAT external boards and could no longer work effectively, or could not be well loaded into the industrial housing. MyPi supports HAT and also provides the "ASIO" (specific application interface) Plug-In module defined by the company. It will expand its I/O to the carrier board, attach the plates to the green Phoenix industrial I/O connector (marked with "ASIO Out") on the side of the plate, as described in the following figure.

As described on the Kickstarter page: "We are more willing to connect the same IO signal to another connector than the HAT board with I/O signal connectors at the side of the board, it is directly connected to green industrial connectors." In addition, "by simply extending the pin length on the card (raising the length), you can directly expand the IO set in the future-these do not require any cabling !" Embedded Micro.

Its optional I/O plug-in board

As shown above, this company provides MyPi with a series of reliable ASIO plug-in cards ,. At first, these will include CAN bus, 4-20mA sensor signal, RS485, narrowband RF, and so on.
