Initial Development of Cardboard VR (III): cardboard Vr
Initial Development of Google Cardboard virtual reality glasses (III)Use Cardboard SDK for Unity Demo for subsequent development

In the previous article, we imported the Cardboard SDK and ran the Demo. This time, I will teach you how to use this Demo to create a scenario of your own, put your model into the scenario, and use virtual reality glasses for viewing and even operations. In fact, as long as Unity is used, these are very simple.

Here I will import a self-developed helicopter model, which can be understood as a simulated driving game. Subsequent development involves my own projects, but I will not explain it much. In the future, I will explain the Demo code and release the Chinese API. After that, you will be able to develop some Unity programs happily ~

(1) Prepare an FBX Model

I personally prefer to use 3ds Max for modeling. Of course, there must be many people who like to use Maya, or you can download model resources from the Internet directly. In short, prepare an FBX model, here I take my model as an example:

Export as an FBX file (helicopter. FBX ):

Model rendering:

Let's show you my model. Haha ~

(2) import the model to the scene

Some materials are lost for some reason. I have never known how to solve the problem. I have not found a solution from the internet. I can only import the model into Unity and then re-attach the material, let me know how to solve the problem.

I skipped the process of re-attaching the material.

(3) adjusting the camera position and model position

Click CardboardMain on the left, which is the main camera consisting of the left and right eye cameras. Use a mobile tool to move the camera to the desired position. I place the camera inside the cabin to simulate the driver's perspective, after running, you can see the effect:

(Iv) Summary

I used my classmate's cell phone to test it on the storm mirror. I still felt very good. Then I added a rotating animation to the helicopter blade, and I still felt like I was wearing glasses, in short, it is relatively successful.

This is the first step in the development of virtual reality glasses, and I have completed a virtual reality application. Then I will explain how to use the SDK and analyze the Demo code, you can use this knowledge to develop a variety of virtual reality glasses applications based on the knowledge of Unity development!

I hope it will be helpful to everyone. This article is redundant, but with a serious attitude, as an introductory tutorial, I do not want to leave readers with questions, please look forward to future content ~
