Initialize the CISCO router and switch Password

I. vro password recovery

Follow these steps to restore the vro password:

1. Turn off the power of the router and re-power the router after 10 seconds. When the router is powered (within 60 seconds after the router is restarted) press Ctrl + Break on the keyboard for a few seconds. After the router prompt rommon 1> appears, enter confreg 0x2142 or the o/r 0x2142 command to modify the configuration register value, 4 indicates that the startup configuration file startup-config is skipped.

2. Enter the reset command to restart the vro.

3. After the vro restarts, enter "n" to return to the vro prompt.

4. Enter the enable command to enter privileged user mode.

5. Enter the copy startup-config running-config command to copy the startup configuration file to the running configuration file.

6. Enter the configure terminal command to enter the global configuration mode.

7. Enter the enable secret newpass command to reset the encrypted enable password (you can also change the enable password and virtual terminal password if necessary ).

8. Enter the exit command to return to the global configuration mode.

9. Enter the config-register 0x2102 command to restore the configuration register value to the default value.

10. Enter the exit command to return to privileged user mode.

11. Enter the copy running-config startup-config command to save the running configuration file to the startup configuration file.

12. Enter the reload command to restart the router. So far, the password recovery process has been completed.

13. After the vro is started, enter the "enter" button until the prompt "Router> appears.

14. Enter the enable command to enter the privileged user mode. When prompted to enter the password, enter the new encrypted enabling password to check whether the password recovery process has been correctly executed.

Ii. Switch password recovery

Follow these steps to restore the vro password:

1. disconnect the power of the switch and re-power the switch. While powering the switch, hold down the "Mode" button on the front panel of the switch for several seconds, carefully observe the switch startup information displayed in the Super Terminal Program.

2. Enter the flash_init command after the switch prompt switch: appears.

3. After the preceding command is executed, enter the load_helper command.

4. After the preceding command is executed, enter dir flash: Command to view the file list in flash.

5. Enter the rename flash: config. text flash: config. back command to rename the file stored with a password in flash.

6. Enter the reset command to restart the switch (or enter the boot command to continue the switch startup process ).

7. Enter "n" to return to the vswitch prompt when a prompt is displayed after the vswitch restarts.

8. Enter the enable command to enter privileged user mode.

9. Enter the rename flash: config. back flash: config. text command.

10. Enter the copy flash: config. text system: running-config command and confirm.

11. Enter the configure terminal command to enter the global configuration mode.

12. Enter the enable secret newpass command to reset the encrypted enable password (you can change the enable password and virtual terminal password here if necessary ).

13. Enter the end command to return to privileged user mode.

14. Enter the copy running-config startup-config command to save the running configuration file to the startup configuration file. So far, the password recovery process has been completed.

15. Enter the disable command to return to normal user mode.

16. Enter the enable command to enter the privileged user mode. When prompted to enter the password, enter the new encrypted enabling password to check whether the password recovery process has been correctly executed.
