In a Word 2010 document, you can insert an object that is linked to a file, and objects that are inserted into the Word document will also be updated when the original linked file is updated. Files that are embedded in a Word document cannot be synchronized with the original file. To insert an object that is linked to a file in a Word 2010 document, the following steps are described:
Step 1th, open the Word 2010 document window and position the insertion cursor where you want to insert the object. Switch to the Insert ribbon and click the Object button in the text group, as shown in Figure 2011081704.

Step 2nd, open the Objects dialog box and switch to the Create by File tab. Click the browse button to locate and select the file you want to insert into your Word 2010 document, select the link to file check box, and click OK, as shown in Figure 2011081705.

Return to the Word 2010 document window to view the file objects that are inserted into the current Word 2010 document. Double-click the object to open the original program window for editing.
Tip: If the link to file check box is not selected on the Create by File tab, double-clicking the object activates the original Program menu command in the Word document window to edit the object (refer to the tutorial "inserting a File object in a Word 2010 document").
