When users use Word2003 to make ancient books or brochures, they often need to set the page number format to vertical Chinese page numbers, as described in the following steps:
Step 1th, open the Word2003 document window, and click the Insert → page number menu command in the menu bar. Open the Page Number dialog box, select the Page Portrait center option in the location Drop-down list, and then select the inside or outside options in the Alignment Drop-down list and click the Format button, as shown in Figure 2008111201.

2nd step, in the Open Page Number Format dialog box, click the number format Drop-down triangle button. Select the "one, two or three (Jane) ..." option in the number format Drop-down list, and click the OK button to close the page number format and page Number dialog box, as shown in Figure 2008111202.

Step 3rd, return to the Word document window, click the view → header and Footer menu command in the menu bar, and go to the header and footer editing status. Click the border of the page number text box and drag the control point of the text box to reduce its width and increase its height, as shown in Figure 2008111203.

Step 4th, click the Close button on the Header and Footer toolbar to return to the Word document editing status, and you can see that the page number format has changed to portrait format, as shown in Figure 2008111204.
