You guessed it? The answer is Budgie, a simple desktop environment designed for the openSUSE-based linux release version Evolve OS, but not only for the Evolve OS.

Budgie desktop 5.1: a desktop environment http://www.linuxidc.com/Linux/2014-08/105833.htm for conservative users

The first time we mentioned Budgie was in December March, we were given a clean, small, beautiful, and flexible architecture, the decision to reuse the public portion of the GNOME 3.10 mature technology used in most of today's releases and the standard stack is also convinced.

I admire the development choices made by Ikey Doherty, the project leader. There is no denying the merits of building a new stove, but deciding to get help from an upstream project will allow the entire project to progress faster, both in terms of development (a lighter technical burden) or in terms of user availability (it is easier to run on other releases ).

In addition to political factors, this desktop is clean and small, and pays tribute to Google Chrome OS's Ash desktop. If you don't mind some rough edges, it's worth your attention. So how to install Budgie in Ubuntu?

Unofficial PPA are not formal.

Open source means that if you have a little terminal knowledge, you can compile the source code of the Budgie desktop and run it.

However, if you are too lazy and want to run Budgie on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (or a release version based on it), you can easily implement it.

Just add oneUnofficial PPA, Refresh your software source and install it. In a few minutes, you will have a new uncle Bob in this family and a new desktop to play.

Add Budgie PPA

Copy the following command into an open terminal window and enter your password after the prompt (if necessary ):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sukso96100/budgie-desktopsudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install budgie-desktop
Log on to the Budgie session

After the installation is complete, you can select "Budgie" in the session selector on the Unity welcome interface. (Don't forget to change the options back to a stable desktop environment in the future)

Note:

Budgie is unstable and imperfect, and it is not officially supported on Ubuntu. It is under active development, and features are still missing, including but not limited to: network management is not supported, there is no volume control applet (the keyboard buttons work well), there is no notification system, the application cannot be "fixed" on the taskbar.

It does not support the stacked scroll bar of UBUNTU and some GTK topics very well, and the session manager (such, logout, restart, etc.) will not work.

One method is to disable the stacked scroll bar, set a default topic, and exit the session by using the following name in the terminal:

gnome-session-quit

With these warnings in my mind, I have to recommend that those who prefer a stable and reliable system do not use it for the moment.

What about those enthusiastic amateurs? Okay, please leave a message below to tell us what you think of it. I give way to Bob.
