Install and configure the Flex 3 SDK in Windows

The Adobe AIR command line tool needs to install Java, which can be JRE or JDK (version 1.4.2 or later). The JRE download idea here.

Note: end users do not need a Java environment.

The flex SDK contains air APIs and command line tools for packaging, compiling, and debugging AIR applications.

1. If not, download a Flex 3 SDK from Adobe Labs.

2. decompress the SDK to the specified directory.

3. Locate the bin subdirectory.

Compiler settings

The flex SDK contains two compilers. The mxmlc compiler compiles the mxml and ActionScript code as SWF files, and the compc compiler compiles components and libraries as SWC files. Both compilers can run as Local Binary programs or Java programs in the command line. (The Local Binary program actually calls the Java program) If you want to use the local binary program, you need to add the Flex 3 SDK/bin directory to the environment variable path. If you use Java program commands, you need to add mxmlc. jar and compc. jar to the environment variable.

Compiler configuration file

When using the compiler, you can specify some optional parameters for compilation. The Global flex SDK configuration file contains a default value. You can edit this file to customize your development environment. The global configuration file air_config.xml is in the frameworks directory of the Flex 3 SDK.

Note: If you use the amxmlc command to start the compiler, air_config.xml will replace flex_config.xml.

Debugger settings

Air directly supports debugging, so a debugging version runtime environment is not required. To manage Command Line Debugging, you need to use the debug flash player. You only need to set the environment variables to specify the directory where these commands are located.

The debug Flash Player is already in the Flex 3 SDK directory. The command fdb.exe is in the bin directory, and the Java version is in the lib directory. The airbench initiator adl.exe or ADL is in the bin directory.

Note that you cannot directly start the air program with FDB, because FDB will try to run the program with flash player, so you must connect the air program to FDB.

Application Package logging settings

The air development tool (ADT) is used to package programs into air files. To run ADT, you must install the Java environment.

The SDK contains a script to execute ADT. To run the ADT script, add the bin directory of the Flex SDK to the system PATH variable.
