WinRoute is a server software running on Windows 95/NT. It integrates the functions of router, proxy server, mail server, firewall, network addresstranslator, and schedator to connect your LAN to the Internet.
I. Installation
The WinRoute Homepage Address is http: // www. WinRoute. cz/, which can be Lite or pro. Lite has fewer proxy server and network addresstranslator functions than pro. After installation, restart the computer and the system automatically installs the WinRoute service.
Ii. Set winrouter
You need to set a unique IP address for WinRoute in the LAN. For example, if the IP address of the NIC is 192.168.0.1, enter 255.255.255.0 in "Mask". the IP address of the modem is generated after dialing. You do not need to select it here. In the interface table, enable the NAT Function of the Internet interface and disable the NAT Function of the Intranet (NIC) interface.
(1) Use the built-in DHCP server:
The DHCP server of WinRoute can automatically configure the network to simplify the configuration of the LAN workstation. When using a DHCP server, the setting you want to perform on the workstation is to set them to automatically obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
1. Select Settings → DHCP server.
2. Select the DHCP server check box and click Add new scope.
3. Specify the IP address range that the DHCP server assigns to the workstation. Please note that your WinRoute host already uses an IP address, so avoid using it. The IP address must be in the same subnet.
4. Specify options (important ). The options option is used to specify other Information allocated to the workstation. Check box in front of each part in the check dialog box, enter the appropriate information, usually enter the default gateway and DNS server address (typically use WinRoute as the DNS server ), in this case, you will use the internal IP address of the WinRoute host (for example, 192.168.0.1 ). You can leave other projects blank.
You can also use other third-party DHCP servers, but at the same time, your network must only have one DHCP server running !! Check whether your third-party DHCP server assigns the correct information to your client workstation. For example, the default gateway, IP address, and DNS must be set to the internal IP address of the WinRoute host.
(2) Use the built-in DNS forwarding:
In most cases, you can use the built-in DNS forwarder of WinRoute as the DNS server of your network computer. Make sure that the built-in DNS forwarder of WinRoute is enabled and configured.
3. Set dialing
If you access the Internet through a dial-up, set the dial-up item and select Settings-> dial-up. Select a modem for dial-up Internet access in line, and set the modem rate in baudrate, for example, 115200. Select dial up and dial mode select tone. Enter the Internet phone number in phone nr:, for example, 163 or 169. Select use script (infile dial. PPP) and edit the dial. PPP file in the WinRoute directory to Enable Automatic Logon. An example is as follows:
Trace on # open a trail
Recv 10 "sername" # Wait "sername" 10 seconds
Send "yourname \ r" # Send User Name
Recv 10 "assword" # Wait 10 seconds for "assword"
Send "yourpassword \ r" # Send Password
4. Set the TCP/IP protocol for the LAN
For all computers in the LAN, the TCP/IP protocol settings are the same. Select TCP/IP in "Control Panel"> "network", locate gateway in "properties", and add the IP address of the WinRoute host (such as 192.168.0.1) as the default gateway. You can also set it in the DHCP service of WinRoute. It will automatically specify this value for your workstation! Add the DNS address of your ISP in "DNS configuration", such as 172.18.95.2. Then, specify a unique IP address for each machine in "ip address", such as 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3..., and "subnet mask", which must be set to 255.255.255.0. After the settings, restart the computer.
If all settings are correct, then when your LAN is connected to the Internet, each machine in the LAN can be connected to the Internet.
5. Set Proxy Server
The Port Number of the proxy server is viewed in the proxy server under the setting menu. The default value is 3128, which is mainly used to specify the proxy server for the browser software of other computers in the LAN, enter the IP address (such as 192.168.0.1) and port number (such as 3128) of the proxy server on the LAN to access the Internet as the proxy server.
WinRoute supports HTTP, FTP, and Gopher proxies. When Using proxy, the proxy server puts the content of the accessed site into its own cache, so that when multiple users visit the same site, the proxy server will try to read data from the cache to speed up access. In addition, the proxy server of WinRoute can also be set to when the access to a site is interrupted by (user, from WinRoute, continue to read the content of the site to the cache (select "Continue aborted" under "cache options", and choose "Keep aborted" to stop reading the content ), in this way, when you return to this site (such as the back icon of IE or navigator), you can quickly get the content that has not been read.
However, proxy Hunter is rampant in the rivers and lakes today. Once your proxy server is discovered, hey, you are suffering. Note !!! By default, the proxy server of WinRoute can be accessed by anyone! Select Settings-> proxy server from the menu. The default port is 3128 ). Under access, enter the restrictions on the websites (URLs) that can be accessed by different user accounts. For example, if www.abc.com is selected and allow to [admin] group is selected, members other than the Admin group cannot access www.abc.com. The target URL can use the wildcard "*", for example, "*. com ". Enter "*" in the target URL, and leave nothing in allow to. proxy is not open to any non-Admin group members (recommended ). Members of the Admin group are not restricted by proxy access. This should be taken into account setting. If you do not want the proxy server to work, you do not have any account and use the wildcard * to restrict access to any site. In addition, the proxy server is set on the IP address of the Local Machine, rather than the two IP addresses occupied by WinRoute.
