First download the Sybase ASE 12.5 installation file, for the http://download.sybase.com/eval/ASE_1252_DE/ase1252_de_win.zip and Sybase ASE 12.5 client, of course, the first also contains the Sybase client, the user can no longer download the client. This time we used two vpcs (the win2003 operating system) for this experiment. One was installed and running the Sybase Database Service, and the other was remotely connected to manage the Sybase Database.

After installing Sybase, you can find the "Sybase SQL Server _ ***" service in the service. By default, the service is started manually. You can change it to automatic to start the service.
On another virtual machine, run the client installer and install the Sybase client in the same way as above. Select ASE data providers when installing components! After the installation is complete, the Windows Start Menu will be added:
Sybase Central is the client of the Sybase Database, which is equivalent to management studio in SQL Server 2005.
Click the "Connect" option in the "Tools" menu or use the shortcut key F11. The following dialog box is displayed:
Hostname is the IP address of the virtual machine that has just installed Sybase Database Service. portnumber uses the default port 5000 and the user name uses SA. No password is set by default. Click "OK, sybase Central connects to the Sybase Database. The connected Central is as follows:
To create a database, you must first create database devices, which is equivalent to the tablespace in Oracle and used to store the database. Select "database devices" on the left and double-click "add database devices" on the right to create a database device according to the wizard.
Next, create a database, select databases on the left side, and double-click "add Database" on the right side to use the database device as required by the Wizard. The default configuration is for others, after "Next", you can create a new database.
After creating a database, expand the database, select "User tables" on the left, and double-click "Add Table" on the right to create a table like SQL Server.
The "Save and close" button on the far right of the toolbar can save the created table and exit the Table Designer. After creating a table:
In Sybase Central, it seems that you cannot directly open a table to add data, just like management studio. You can only query data. In this regard, I use SQL advantage, which is equivalent to the query analyzer in SQL 2000. After connecting to the server, I can write the insert statement and execute it to write the data to the Sybase Database.
Return to Sybase Central, select tb1 on the left, and select the "data" tab on the right to view the inserted data.
The above is just a brief introduction to Sybase ase12.5. It is mainly used in the Sybase Environment prepared to achieve the connection between SQL Server 2005 and Sybase ASE. As I was the first to contact the sybase database, therefore, the first is to facilitate the person who wants to learn Sybase, and the second is to facilitate future reference.
