(1) Partitioning
In XP, the "my computer" management function is used to partition hard disks. The objective is to extract 20 GB space from the logical partition and divide it into three Disks (which must be logical disks );
(1) 512 MB is used as the Linux swap partition;
(2) 200 MB for Linux/boot mounting;
(3) 20 GB for Linux/mounting;
(2) create a ora boot USB flash drive
(1) requirements:
4 GB or above USB flash drives;
Software Fedora-8-i386-DVD.iso;
2 software grubinst-1.1-bin;
Software 3 brub4dos-0.4.3;
Software 4 winimage;
(2) steps:
1. Use grubinst-gui.exe in Software 2 to install grub on the USB flash drive. Select "disk" only during installation, select the drive letter corresponding to the USB flash drive, and click "Install.
If an error occurs, add "-- skip-MBr-test" to "Additional Parameters;
2) Copy grldr and menu. lst under grub4dos to the USB flash disk;
3) copy the Fedora-8-i386.iso to the u disk;
4) Create the boot and images directories under the USB flash drive. Install winimage and extract the content in the images folder in ISO to the image folder of the USB flash drive.

5) edit the menu. LST file and add the following content to the end:
Title fedora 8 setup
Root (hd0, 0)
Kernel/boot/vmlinu = root =/dev/hda1
Initrd/boot/initrd. img
Note that there is a space behind root.
(3) install fedora 8
(1) Select Start from the USB flash drive HDD to go to grub4dos;
(2) Select "fedora 8 setup".
(3) Select "simplified Chinese"-"us"-"Hard Drive"-"DEV/sdb1" To Go To The fedora graphic installation interface;
(4) Installation
(1) Click "Next" on the welcome page ";
(2) On the ora partition installation and configuration page, select "create custom partition structure ";
(3) On the grub configuration page, select "fedora/dev/sda9" for the default loading system, select "Advanced Configuration" for the supervisor, and click "Next ";
(4) the installation location recorded by the Boot Loader (this step is critical ).
Select the/dev/SDA primary Boot Record (MBR). In "Change drive order", put/dev/SDA before and after.
