one, partition resolution
1, 32-bit operating system, 320G HDD, single system Windows XP generally have three to four partitions, here are assumed to have four:
C drive: Primary partition FAT32 FormatD-Disk--f: Three logical partitions NTFS format
the first thing to do is to isolate at least 8G free space from the last partition F-disk for the installation of our beloved fedora13!
2, download partitionmagic (HDD partition Magician)turn off all other useless applications, open the program after installation,Select the last logical partition F-Disk, click adjust/move partition size!
Drag the bar on the right side of the graphical interface to separate the appropriate free space, I divided the 90g! be careful to leave the free space behind the F-drive.!
Click OK, you can see the original partition behind, a lot of unallocated space, point application!
Software tip: A reboot is required to apply the change! When you click OK, the computer restarts!
after restarting, automatically enter the interface to adjust the partition! Then the computer may be like the crash, the numbers do not beat,Never force a reboot ! don't worry, wait patiently! After the last partition is adjusted, it will enter XP. Open partition again magician, will find the disk lastThere 's an unallocated 90G space.! two, before the installation of hard disk preparation
1, hard disk installation is to directly put Fedora13 ISO files on the hard drive to install, not through the CD-ROM!
2, download Fedora13 iso file, put in FAT32 format C drive, is:Fedora (Goddard) i386/x86_64 DVD ISO
Create a new Fedora13 directory under the C drive, extract the images files from the Fedora-13-i386-dvd.iso and put them in the newly created Fedora13 directory. In addition, unzip the Isolinux folder initrd.img and vmlinuz Two files are also placed in the Fedora13 directory, the fedora-13- The I386-dvd.iso file is also placed in the Fedora13 directory, and the initrd.img and Vmlinuz are copied to the root of the C drive.
3, download Grub4dos, we just have 2 files inside, unzip and put Grldr and menu.lst into the C packing directory.
Then modify the Menu.lst, and at the end of the Menu.lst add
Title Install Fedora 13
Kernel (hd0,0)/vmlinuz
INITRD (hd0,0)/initrd.img
Open the root directory of the C drive and find the boot. ini, (usually hidden), at the back of the
C:\grldr=grub
Three, the official installation
1, reboot the system, select Grub, enter.
Then choose the final install Fedora 13 (see Figure 4) to the installation interface
Enter language selection, select Chinese user
The next step should be the selection of the keyboard layout, the default is good, and then the next important, choose the installation method, HDD installation Fedora 13 Select hard Drive
This step is more important, for many novice, do not know how to install Fedora 13 key, I put the Fedora-13-i386-dvd.iso and related installation files in the C-drive Fedora13 directory, so to find here, my C disk is/dev/ SDA1 partition. If you do not know, you can start a test from/DEV/SDA1, the following address is also very important, enter the path where the installation image file is located,/fedora13/images/install.img
Click OK to start the real installation, there is a place to note, if you want to keep the original system information, pay particular attention to the following places, to choose to establish a custom partition structure.
2, the following is simple, important! To customize the partition structure, select the 90G free space and right click to add the partition.
The first to create a swap partition, choose a fixed size, and memory equivalent space, if you are less than 512M of memory, then choose twice times the memory. What I set here is the equivalent of 2048M memory.
The second set up/boot partition, choose a fixed size, about 200M.
The third one is to divide all the remaining space into/partition, and then click Next until you start copying the installation files!
3, drink some tea, watch TV, wait 10 minutes of installation process ~ ~ After completion of automatic restart ~
4, if the XP system fails to boot correctly, after entering Fedora, do the following:
First, enable the root user
Su Root
Password: * * *
Open the directory where Menu.lst: Vi/boot/grub/menu.lst
Press the INSERT key
The contents of the amendment are as follows:
The default is:
Title Other
Rootnoverify (hd0,4)
Chainloader +1
Modify:
Title Other
Rootnoverify (hd0,0)
Chainloader +1
Add to:
Title Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Root (hd0,0)
Makeactive
Chainloader +1
Finally, reboot and select other to go to the Windows boot interface.
This installation is successful!!!
