This article is a summary of a chrome user's tips for installing chrome on a non-system disk.
Chrome is installed on the system disk by default, and the installation path is not selected during the installation process. How to install chrome on other disks? Direct removal does not seem to work very well. At least I will not use the method of modifying via shortcuts on the internet ......
I checked it with Google and found that a method introduced by foreigners is relatively simple. Click here to view details.
Another Daniel's article is also detailed. Click here to view details.
If you can understand it, the following article can be omitted. Of course, it would be nice if I couldn't understand it. At least it should prove that my article is still useful.
Principle:
Skip this section if you want to start directly. Simply put, it seems that a program is used to set "F: \ Program Files \ google \ chrome" (you can also specify the file directory I want to install) maps to Google Chrome's default installation path "C: \ documentsand Settings \ Administrator \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ google \ chrome" (This installation path is not necessarily, depends on the user name in your computer ). In this case, any modification to the original path (including installation) is actually targeted at the "F: \ ProgramFiles \ google \ chrome" path.
You can also say that the two paths share the same disk space.
In reality, the safe deposit box installed on the wall is opened by the neighbors from the other side of the wall. Both sides can take money or save money.
Specific implementation:
First download the junction program: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896768 from here
Then, decompress the package to the specified directory: c: \ windows \ system32 (the main purpose is to find and run the program directly in the CMD command. It is not a problem to decompress the package, but in order to save trouble, please do it as required ~~), Remove junction.exe to the specified directory. Also, junction.exe must be directly in the System32 folder, such.
Next, you can call up the CMD command box in two ways:
One is: Start Menu --- all programs ---- appendix ---- Command Prompt
One is: the shortcut key windows + R. In the displayed "run" dialog box, Enter cmd or cmd.exe,
Click "OK" and a black box is displayed.
The usage of this junction program is as follows:
usage: junction <junction directory> <junctiontarget> example:junction d:\link c:\windows
You can directly right-click and paste this command in the black box:
junction"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome""F:\Program Files\Google\Chrome"
If a window pops up, click "agree ".
However, this is a little troublesome. It does not create folders independently. For example, in my example, "F: \ Program Files \ google \ chrome" is equivalent to "C: \ Windows ", "C: \ Documents ents and Settings \ Administrator \ localsettings \ Application Data \ google \ chrome" is equivalent to "D: \ link". Therefore, it requires that both paths must exist, and "C: \ Documents ents and Settings \ Administrator \ Local Settings \ applicationdata \ google \ chrome" cannot contain any files, that is, the directory must be empty; otherwise, the ing cannot be successful ...... Of course, this requirement does not apply to "F: \ ProgramFiles \ google \ chrome.
After these steps are completed, install Google Chrome again. You will find that the new Google Chrome is installed in both folders above, and no matter which folder you operate on, it will inevitably affect another folder ~~~
However, it should be noted that although the two directories share the same disk space, their essence is:
"C: \ Documents and Settings \ Administrator \ localsettings \ Application Data \ google \ chrome" this directory shares the space of "F: \ Program Files \ google \ chrome, that is, the latter is the entity that actually owns resources. The former is just like a shadow.
Postscript:
In fact, I have tried chromeplus and Maple Leaf browsers before, but I found many bugs in its programs, which are not perfect. Other methods for transferring the chrome installation directory cannot be learned, I had to use this method. Fortunately, it was a little expensive and I succeeded. But you need to know that the success of the last step means the failure of the previous nine or nine steps.
I hope you can find a suitable method ~~~
