Install msdn in two or three ways: Green installation, independent installation, and multi-language Installation

The method for installing msdn in vs after 2010 has changed. After a review, the problem is finally solved.

I. many people think that the vs installation package after 2010 does not contain msdn. In fact, it is included in the productdocumentation directory. use Microsoft Help Viewer for installation. I will not talk about the installation process as soon as I search for the installation process.

 

II. the msdn language is irrelevant to vs or the operating system language. for example, I am using msdn in e-text vs Chinese. the language option for downloading msdn is actually specified by the startup parameter of helplibmanager.exe in Microsoft Help viewer. this startup parameter is generally used as a shortcut. for example, on my machine, the shortcut for installing Chinese is

Corresponding English is

If the boot error is reported, it is generally prompted that the Language Pack file is missing, such as: the MSHelp3_1_zh-CN cannot be found and other similar errors. Either install the corresponding language pack, but my approach is to goProgramIn the directory, copy another Language Pack and rename it to the corresponding file name. All I have is to change the MSHelp3_1_en-US.cab to MSHelp3_1_zh-CN.cab to use.

 

III. 2010 if the SP1 Patch Is Not Installed, check msdn in the browser and check the patch in Microsoft Help Viewer. the Display language of msdn is determined by the address in the browser or the startup parameter of Microsoft Help Viewer. if you want to view it in a browser, change en-us in the address bar to ZH-CN. If you want to view it using Microsoft Help Viewer, it is also a shortcut. for example, the shortcut on my machine is

4. msdn can be installed independently. the installation package is named helpsetup_x86.exe in the directory WCU/help of the installation disk of Visual Studio 2010. use Orca to open help3_vs.msi, delete the "vs_setup or installedworkflow" line in launchcondition, and install it independently. The corresponding language package is helpsetuplp_x86_chs.exe. x86 indicates digits, and CHS indicates language. you can install it directly.

 

5. we recommend that you install msdn on a non-system disk. after the system is reinstalled, you only need to install Microsoft Help Viewer, select to install it from the local hard disk, and then locate the file to helpcontentsetup in the corresponding language folder of the msdn installation. the MSHA file can be immediately restored to msdn.

 

6. after several hours of hard work, I finally gave up the local msdn and used the offline download tool to download the msdn from the Internet. because the local msdn lacks too many online msdn content. my offline tool is teleport Ultra, which is easy to use.
