Method:

Create a folder under/usr/share/fonts/truetype customizedfonts, copy the TTF file here

sudo CP -R Customizedfonts/usr/share/fonts/truetype

The font folder and font files are chmod to 777 (not 777 should also be possible, did not try)

sudo chmod 777 CUSTOMIZEDFONTSCD customizedfonts sudo chmod 777 *

Execute the following command within the font folder:

sudo Mkfontscale sudo Mkfontdir sudo fc-cache

If you want the entire user interface, including Gnome terminal, to use the/consolas, further configuration:

sudo Install gnome-tweak-tool

Then enter the font settings (for reference):
